Official 6x00 Stock Thread(or lack thereof)

I'm talking UK that's where I live. Top five retailers have NO stock. Amazon UK NO stock. I'd love to know where people in the UK bought stock from.

To try and give some more context Scan UK received 14% of their PS5 pre orders on launch day. That means 86% of people who pre-ordered and paid up front for a PS5 in September did not receive their console. Scan currently has no shipping dates for those consoles and estimates it may be early 2021. OK in the global market Scan are miniscule but just imagine those numbers worldwide. Sony will be kicking down Lisa Su's doors demanding more consoles as per their contract so what do you think she'll do? Sorry Jim can't do that I need to sell some Radeon 6800's  One of my favourite AC/DC songs is money talks google it it's a great track.

TBH only decent things I've been able to buy lately are AC/DC's new Power Up album and Iron Maiden's new live album Night's of the Dead  Superb albums actually. Highly recommended if you're a metal fan.

Up the irons!!
You just described Canada as well. Overpriced 3090s are all you can find.

Yeah but it's not like nVidia has had a decent launch either. Where at what? Almost 3 months now for the 3000 series, and availability still sucks. It's the same set of problems. Not enough manufacturing space and getting stuff around right now is a nightmare.

Two months and it does suck.

mass cargo does not go by plane .

one card shipped to a end customer sure

100's of cards not likely and would cost a ton more

Virgin Atlantic charges by the ton for freight. My EKWB order shipped by DHL and it used a Virgin Atlantic flight to get to the USA from the UK. They charge less if its uniform on a pallet also. I ordered 11PM Tuesday night CST and it got at my doorstep Thursday 4PM via DHL Express from Slovenia. They do ship mass freight. Its just expensive and looking like it may be the only option if the sea freight **** doesn't clear up.

TSMC's top priorities were

#1 = iPhone 12

# 2 = the new game consoles

AMD's stuff was last on their list most likely Sony & M$ demanded it

Stop it Billy! It was ok to hammer Nvidia, but now that it is worse with AMD, well Ah shucks, here's an excuse for ya.:p

you sure got a 5900x faster than your 3080 space heater

i could have got one the other day but passed till i know how SAM pans out if they support my 3800x i will pass till next time i think

So how did 3 million consoles make it into customers hands..fairy dust maybe. Let's call it as it is. They.Have.No.Cards.to.Sell. Look at Scan and Overclockers in UK and a lot of European sites they are either de-listing the 6800's or just leaving them onsite with no information. Same goes for many sites in USA and Canada. There must be a lot of docks where these millions of cards are stuck  And obviously only those ships with AMD cards onboard have been affected is that right? The sites are also saying they have no shipping DATES not delivery dates ergo they've not even put them on a ship yet.

Look why can't people just accept this is the most botched launch ever and stop trying to defend the indefensible. AMD need to come out and admit they botched it badly and apologise and try to rectify the situation as fast as they can. Sorted but if they keep on lying well that's their problem. At the end of the day the truth is they didn't have the capacity to supply all the consoles and also their own Zen 3 and 6800 GPU within the launch window they gave themselves. That's inexcusable incompetence for a major company IMHO.
3 million consoles made it into customers hands because they started production of 1 single product months before either Nvidia or AMD, announced the release date of 3 sperate products, not counting CPUs, 6 weeks before AMD even announced their product line. Which gave them roughly at least 6 weeks more to continually ship 1 single product to the various retailers. The math is't difficult.

Managing expectations is what AMD could have done to prevent the bad press and angry fans. Communicating with their customers. Their Twitter feed and website are barren of any information indicating anything is wrong or abnormal, and are geared to make you want to buy a product that is impossible to attain. I really expected better.

just like NV

and it is working people want them more every day

neither will say something like "oh it will be around march 6 2021 buy the other guys card "

AMD just like NV? That was basically the entire point of my post. Maybe you like that sort of thing, but I'm not into it.

you think it's planed

it is the virus and everything is delayed .

i'm sure both want the cards in the stores ASAP

but NV has the better mining card this time so they will have even more problems no that bitcoin is close to 20k again

I've heard that Jensen and Lisa Su have pet Unicorns. Are you going to believe that one too

I was looking for that link but had to get to work:

Frustrated about the lack of GeForce RTX 30 Series stock? Miners might deserve some of the blame. According to a report from Barron’s (via Bitcoin.com and Moore’s Law Is Dead), NVIDIA sold a substantial amount of its Ampere graphics cards to ether enthusiasts instead of gamers.

“For the quarter in review, Nvidia sold at least $175 million worth of new generation GPUs to ethereum miners, helping the outperformance,” Bitcoin.com reported based on a note from RBC Capital Markets analyst Mitch Steves. “The analyst had guided sales to miners to come in at $150 million for the quarter.”

“Steves noted that the upcoming network upgrade of the Ethereum blockchain, also known as Ethereum 2.0, which is scheduled to take place sometime in December, demands that miners switch over to more efficient mining hardware. Nvidia’s new Ampere GPU chips are thought to meet that need.”

And that shipping thingy:

https://www.bloomberg.com/amp/news/...-off-los-angeles-grind-gears-of-world-economy

A flotilla of almost a dozen cargo vessels sits anchored just south of Los Angeles this weekend, waiting for berth space. Around the twin ports of L.A. and Long Beach, shipping containers are already stacked five and six high -- the maximum the fire department will allow.

“Anywhere you go, there are just containers everywhere,” said Weston LaBar, CEO of the Harbor Trucking Association, an industry group in Long Beach representing carriers who haul the steel boxes to and from the ports. “It’s maddening.”

The perfect storm is swamping the busiest gateway to the U.S. economy heading into the holiday season: Labor and equipment shortages are colliding with the still-healthy purchasing power of American consumers -- all complicated by a worsening pandemic that’s making workers and employers extra-tentative. Truckers are struggling to keep up with the wave of record imports.

“Try to pour 10 gallons of water into a five-gallon bucket,” LaBar said, “and you’re going to have a hard time.”

If air freight sees the sea freight clog up you can bet their rates will rise quickly. Shipping costs is very flexible in that industry.

I do feel they may have moved the launch date of the cards in 2021...I don't that people stay home and there's demand but the companies can't meet the demand because the nature of the circumstances..Kinda futile launch if you ask me unless .... (fill in conspiracy theories)

It's on a sell-off this morning down 10% already. But if anything the last several years should teach us, it's that once it goes down it will eventually come back up again. And when it does, it will come back up fast, just like when it goes down it goes down fast.

I'm starting to think, if it hits under 10K again, I might just have to throw some money into it and stop worrying about it being "down for good" no matter how risky it seems.

I do feel they may have moved the launch date of the cards in 2021...
I think it would've been best at this point to have just waited and built up stock, work on drivers in the mean time, etc.. It seems there just isn't enough fab capacity to go around, and we're in the middle of a sort of perfect storm here with lots of factors causing problems in the supply chain above and beyond limited capacity. Since the GPUs seem to be taking a back seat, logically they are the ones who should've waited to be launched.

Been following some streams and the AIB availability has been as bad as the original 6800 series launch and far worse than anything nVidia did. Meanwhile people scoring 3080s like it is no body’s business.

Overpriced 3090 are as abundant as sand here.
3070 you could scrounge one up if you really wanted to.
3080 impossible to get. Backorder list so long they're still on launch day fulfillment.

AMDs cards are absolutely not to be seen. Not even 1.

Well guys my amazon bot picked me up a gigabyte 6800xt reference card. Supposed to arrive wed. dec 16th.

The seller is 'Amazon.com Services LLC'.
The price? $799

Looks like amazon be joining up with scalpers my bois.

I am trying to get a price match/reduction, but they are fighting it since the newegg listing is not on their site. They only want to match prices that are on their website.
