It's 2018 and still no 4k monitor with 120hz or 144hz support?

I just got a 43" TCL Q550 game capable 4k TV to try out from a 32" dell. I love it. Took a couple days to get used to it but the added real estate is awesome for not just games. It was a cheap upgrade at 300$ tho only 60hz it has freesync. I will look to a deal on a 120 hz model later...
 
So anyone got their grubby hands on a 32 inch 240 Hz OLED yet? Send me a link to buy these. Seems OOO everywhere.
 
Well I preordered the ASUS PG32UCDM 240 Hz 4K bitch slapping monitor. Let's hope it comes without any defects and crap. Also cost me quite a bunch more than MSRP.
 
I just couldn't pull thr trigger on OLED... too many question marks with regards to burn in and text clarity. Settled on a samsung 4k mini led lcd in the meantime. Next upgrade will be a microled monitor... looking like 10 years based on manufacturing problems/cost.

All the QD-OLED reviews I've seen on youtube from various reviewers say to limit desktop use. The MSI version even have specific functions you can turn on to look for the task bar and other static images and apply mitigation. Normal OLED's seem to mostly solve the problem unless you're playing 16:9 content on an ultrawide alot.
 
It can't be fixed lol. I have the G7 version and one of the reasons why I didn't indulge on Neo G7 was waiting for OLED.

Mostly good, two irritations.
1) The center line is dimmer than the sides. WTF?
2) On-boot, the video never displays anything until you get into Windows so doing BIOS shit would be challenging. Lots og "no signal" etc. Could never figure out how to fix that.

Have you tried turning off autosource or whatever they call it?

With that turned off my neo g7 has no problems displaying the uefi/boot screen as it more or less instantly starts displaying the image.
 
Yes, I did. I see that there's a firmware 1009. Not sure what version I have, but maybe that helps. I think I am on Displayport too, which seems to be part of their problem from what I'd read.

When turning on my PC, the monitor initially turns on and "Display Port 1" appears on the top left of the screen but the monitor will suddenly turn off afterwards (I know this because the front LEDs of my G7 will turn off). The monitor will only turn on once Windows is open.

And yes, I use Rebar and Windows 11... turning off UEFI not really viable.



Hmmmm... seeing the whole UEFI thing I started thinking that maybe the problem was UEFI drivers for the video card and googled.

So, maybe I need to look into the 4080 firmware fix. Updating the motherboard BIOS I'm very leery of at this point. Don't really wany to reconfigure everything and hope I still have a running system. :)

The 42" monitor turned out way too big. I gave it to my wife, she loves it, I'll be waiting for PG32UCDP to become available.

My Asus PG32UQX cost me a fair penny two years ago, but man I frickin love this monitor. Zero concerns about burn in, beautiful blacks, and 1400nits hdr brightness.

Finally got my PG32UCDP, and I love it. Perfect size, all the features that I wanted. The OLED really makes blacks black and whites white.

One negative - at 120hz the GUI/apps sometimes show a bit of lag, I guess it is harder on the CPU, but not a fault of the monitor by any means.

Another negative, the stand is fancy but takes too much space, and if the desk is against a wall it places the monitor 10 or so inches into the desk. I got a $25 stand on amazon that allows me to put the monitor much closer to the desk edge.
