GPU shortage for q4 2021 and price rising for both nvidia and Amd

There will always be a good deal to be had, like the Lenovo you just got. It may to me able to play @ 4K but it can play and it was very reasonable for what it packed!

:)

This is true :) That laptop is a zero regret purchase for me.

It’ll be even better when I get the 2nd SSD for it, and the cooling pad < not sure which one yet, but it’ll help to keep fan noise at a minimum I hope.

Look up a YouTube vis on how to open the Lenovo, not easy from what I saw. You may need a prying tool.

I would suggest a Nylon tool for the prying - should prevent scratching and hopefully not snap anything. I used them when I was upgrading the speakers and head-unit on my WRX - great tool to get things open without leaving marks

Thanks for the suggestion Nunz. That sounds like a good tip

Well, it isn't really "messing" with it. I don't see a reason to pay anyone to upgrade storage when I can do it myself. And this unit is practically built with that in mind. They did a great job with the layout inside.

These are the sorta things that made me jump for an upgrade now. I work in IT, I'm seeing the insanely massive delays for Enterprise and Consumer grad hardware raise almost every week. It's hit everything and it's only going to get worse till about 2023 or longer.

It's the entire supply chain right now. Right down to the raw metals, to the mid point of manufacturing and big arse delays in being able to ship. 1 and 3 might ebb and flow, but the manufacturing is the real bottle neck. And it can't resolved for years still.

Makes me wonder how hard it'll be to get new GPU parts next gen. :(
