GeForce 5xxx series (Blackwell)

The worst thing about the nvidia side of things is how shit the 70-series and below are, a 3090 should not the able to hang with cards launched in 2025.

Basically we're in a process funk. Things getting cheaper/better is a factor of the number of transistors you can pack in a given area, and that's not going down very fast these days. The nvidia CEO said it several years ago... moores law is dead.

The 40xx family skirted around that by making bigger chips but charging handsomely for them to compensate for the additional expense. 50xx is the same, and there's only so low that they're willing to go for a 5070, which means that it can only be so good.

Until there's a big process improvement I think we're kinda stuck, which is why I didn't feel so bad about spending on the 4080... figured it'd be lasting me a good long while and not seeing much to think I was wrong.
