Going on now for 9th year! I hope it has helped you as it helped me keeping my backlogs in check while enjoying my games.

Not every month someone will be finishing a lot, as there are months where a person just can't finish anything. Then you got that streak going in another month.

Also, if you plan to replay the game, it is fine but don't repeat it at a later month as first completion is what counts.

Another thing is the criteria of what is considered completed in unclear games such as team based multiplayer games; I would say set a target for that. E.g. I considered Overwatch completed when I reached level 100. Or when I finished story mode (which was a long movie sequence) in Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator. You decide what you consider is completed as long as it is reasonable to a certain extend and correlate-able to a single player experience.

DLC completed at a separate time from the main game and has enough content (+1 hour) can be counted as a separate completion.
Console completions can be accepted as long as the main focus is still PC overall.

Completed Games:

777-Returnal
778-Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered
779-Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
780-Virtua Fighter 5: R.E.V.O.

Well, 2024 was a good year for me. Cleared out a lot of old games. Maintained good new games completion. Backlog is still big but that is also because I add games to it. Spent a bit more time on online games like The First Descendant, Blops6 and SF6 which tend to eat away from single player games time. With MHWilds coming this year, this will still be a challenge. Eitherway, January was good for me as a start for this year:

777-Returnal: Reached halfway then somehow game got parked for years. Managed to get through it and got the true ending. Game was great, I preferred it over Hades when it comes to roguelikes.

778-Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered: Controversial game that was on PS3 only. Finally got to play it. It is only good enough for a single playthrough.

779-Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League: If you can, don't. I got it for free on EGS.

780-Virtua Fighter 5: R.E.V.O.: Been a while since VF was on PC. This edition was great and I enjoyed it.

10 for January

Please! Please Confess First
SUPERHOT
I'm Surrounded By Classic Beauties
Echo Point Nova
LiAA: Love in the Room
Ape Out
Hello Love: 18 Again
Discolored 2
Game of Fate 2: A Century's Promise
Sniper Elite: Resistance

Echo Point Nova was the standout, but superhot and ape out were pretty fun too.

Thank you again for continuing to do this.

Four to start the year with;
Lord Winklebottom Investigates - Comic Detective point and click - Alright but not as clever or funny as it should have been.
Balatro - Poker as a roguelike - Plenty of replay in this but having finally beaten a run I've put it aside for a bit.
Ms Holmes and the Case of the Dancing Men - Typical free hidden object game from Amazon.
Steamworld Heist II - I recently replayed and enjoyed the original. Essentially more of the same but with enough tweaks and variety to make it worthwile.

Completed 2 games in January
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
Final Fantasy VII: Remake Intergrade

Now playing: Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth

I quit a few games this month that I would have finished if I'd known you'd be coming back to keep this going lol.

2 for January:

Drova: Forsaken Foreskin - A mostly terrible looking, slow-moving 2D pixel graphics game with medium combat depth and an annoying "finite resources" design where you really shouldn't over-use your healing plants but you also should not brew them into potions because either would be wasting them. The story starts off decent enough but then goes in an uncomfortable direction and your PC just kind of goes along with it. Maybe they didn't have budget to make a "feel good" branch. I mean for the story, not a physical one.

Tiny Terry's Turbo Trip - Good, easy, questionable ethics game for kids. Predictably, through Steam Family Sharing, my kids enjoyed it much more than I did. But I still enjoyed it some.

In January I did replays of Bad North, finished the campaign for Age of Mythology: Retold, did a replay for Half-Life 2 with dev commentary, and finished Bioshock Infinite for the first time. So four finishes for me in January, even though it was two re-plays, one remake, and only one new-to-me game.

I have a feeling I'll be saying that more and more over the coming years.

Bad start for me, got really really sick and ended up with zero play time (just bed and work)

Zero Games

One game beaten in January.

Zombie Army 4 (8/10) - Played this in co-op with friends and really enjoyed it. It's a much more refined version of Zombie Army Trilogy, which I was only lukewarm on. ZA4 is more modern with better graphics and less clunky controls. The only thing that disappointed me about it compared to ZAT is that you no longer could go prone, but I suppose that functionality wasn't really needed. Basically you fight through hordes of Nazi zombies and eventually pass through hell where you defeat Hitler again. The main game was pretty fun, but surprisingly the DLCs were even better--kind of unusual for a game. Not really much more to say about it than that. I will say that although it was a lot of fun with friends, I don't know whether it would be as good playing solo. On the whole I'll give the experience an 8/10. Main game was maybe more like a 7.5/10 but it ramped up toward the end and then ended on a high note with the DLCs, so I'll be generous and round up.
