Elder Scrolls 6 Rumored?

It's definitely not simple to just change to an engine that has never been used for an RPG style game before. You don't really see engines cross multiple genres, as far as I can think of. Frostbite is probably the only one that is versatile in that way, iirc. I don't know if they used it for Star Wars: Squadrons, but I feel like it was used for one of the Dragon Ages, wasn't it?

Frostbite was used for Dragon Age Inquisition and the recent Need for Speed games, two completely different genres on the same engine.

Unreal engine is the same way. Can be used in any genre.

Bethesda sticking to that crappy Gamebryo or whatever it mutated into now is mind baffling. I bet everything will still be single threaded and poorly optimized when ES6 is released 5-7 years from now and we'll be looking up ini tweaks to change cell sizes, visibility, etc.. :bleh:

It's not like bioware had an easy time with frostbite, the dev tools were not suitable for anything but another battlefield.

Sometimes it is better to keep using what you know.

Thats where its different, the frostbite tools sucked arse, the idtech ones dont. Also frostbite was designed for a very specific purpose and then forcibly made into other things. Idtech was left open but mostly used for just shooters. They are many engines that are multipurpose and used for different genres. Hell, even the first witcher game was built on an engine that had no ability to do what they wanted so they built it into what they needed.

There is literally no reason bethesda should not be using idtech for their games, other then their stupid love for an engine literally nobody else likes to use.

Feels good to be PC with sony and xbox games coming to the platform.

you guys remember back in the mid 2000s how online forums would often have arguments about the death of pc gaming? Seems so funny to think about that now.

I wonder what we are going to argue about concerning games or non gaming subjects until this game comes out. Anyway I have a pc and xbox so I'm on track.

While Bethesda gets their act together I'm currently enjoying Enderal.

I can't believe this game is for free. It seems to be very high quality work so far.
