Diablo II: Resurrected - Beta

I just got it with the Diablo 3 bundle too.

Never played Diablo prior to this.

Apparently supposed to be played together.

Jesus Christ, they could have AT LEAST fixed the bugs that have existed for over 20 years. Going a zeal paladin and I see they still haven't fixed the zeal animation getting stuck or the skill simply not proccing. Those bugs have gotten me killed soooo many times already, beyond frustrating.

21 years guys...(blizzard).

what? its activision, why the **** would they do that?

Working my way through Nightmare right now. I feel like I did 20 years ago, play every chance I get. Absolutely loving it.

Bah, I think I may be done. Tried experimenting with my character (again, bad idea I guess) and following some guides too for my Paladin to turn into recommended zeal...well that was a bad idea. I ruined him...again. Turned him from fairly strong to useless at level 37. I had him pretty decently strong as an Ice aura paladin, doing about 700dps per swing in act 1 nightmare and I decided "I'm high enough now, let's go the default build for a Zeal and build for fanaticism. My DPS dropped from doing over 700 down to 90...FML. My gear sucks and so with shitty gear I can't really do much I guess. This would be the 6th time I'd have to start over as nobody I know has a respec token, so I think I'm done with the game now.

I really hated (and still hate) how D2 never allowed you to experiment with builds.

Its funny, this is the part I like -- feels more dangerous every time I spend a skill point. New world games that allow me to change things constantly get a bit boring as there is no risk.

It's not about risk as it's more about being restrictive for arbitrary reasons. The difficulty of the game is fine but there really is no reason to do this other than to shoehorn players into only a couple of builds so that every end game champion ends up the same. No variety is boring. Thankfully, most arpgs since then realized the problem and fixed it.

Still, I got my money's worth out of it so it was a fun ride. :)

Took me a week to do it, but I'm a more casual dibbler and I don't have a lot of time to dedicate to games unfortunately. I'm not part of the dibbler :masterrace:.

1-14 trist runs .. prob take 20-30min max to go from 1-14

14-25 tomb runs

25-50 baal runs

if you find a decent grp and stick with them you can prob get to lvl50 in less than 4hrs.

Sounds like you should play single player mode. You can then use mods to do whatever you want, including respeccing as many times as you wish.

Even in single player I hesitate to use any mods because who knows what blizz will decide is ban worthy and I don't want to risk my account.

Picked this up last week and just completed the normal campaign at L36, casually playing a fireball sorc without any grinding or farming.

This was truly a solid hit off the nostalgia bong, esp for the 80s/90s kids who grew up on the original 20 years ago. It's quite remarkable how the game holds up, considering it's pretty much untouched except for visuals - this is only more proof of how much ahead of it's time D2 was back in the day.

Vicarious Visions did a fantastic job with the appearance of the world in this remaster, making sure to stay true to the artistic vision of the original game. The scenery, ambience and atmosphere of this series still hasn't been outdone by the other arpgs which have made an attempt to do so.

That said, there are definitely some QoL changes that should have been implemented. Like binding skills directly to hotkeys or replacing immunities with high resistance or fixing the potion to belt spam/micro management.

I see mod authors attempting some QoL attempts but the game isn't that mod friendly so we'll see how it goes.
