Diablo 3 - Official Discussion Thread

This or immortal?

I played D3 at launch, got to like lvl 52 then quit.

Started to play immortal, seems ok but wondering if I should just play D3 again from start?

Skip immortal, its pay to win.

Like all cash shop stuff, you don't HAVE to pay, and you don't have to "win." If you're happy just screwing around, it's entertaining enough to at least go through the first 60 levels.

Past that, when you rank up the world is where I start finding it objectionable. Forced grouping for Hell I+, with bigger and bigger groups. Basically, they're trying to make it more like World of Warcraft than Diablo (original.) If you like the whole clan thing, then you might still enjoy yourself for a bit.

Not really a long-term gaming thing I think, which is why they're trying to force a community instead.

Yeah you dont have to win but the whole point of the game is to get more powerful. Im Paragon 100+ in immortal so Im pretty familiar with the game.

With this newest update even more power is locked behind the warband interactivity. I hate that dungeons are forced grouping.

Another issue is the loot is nothing like Diablo, its tied behind how far you can do solo elder rifts and going further in elder rifts require better gems, and better gems cost money. The whole game is screwed up. I really wanted to love the game but everything is locked behind money.

Im hoping D4 doesnt take any cues from Immortal because if it does its going to be a shitty game.

Havent touched PC since day 1, but a mobile device is a better experience cause of the way everything is set up anyway.

I'm 139.

Yep. Though I'd started my own warband and occasionally do a solo delve.
Kinda fun. It won't ever be super-powerful though. I'm ok with that though.

Also, I've yet to do the helliquary once, because getting 8 random strangers together to do it is neigh impossible. Once we had 8, but some were AFK (can rea''ly blame them, probably had been waiting for a LONG time) and so the group voted to kick them... and then you begin the wait for ANOTHER person... and after 10-15 minutes, you might be ready to go again, then someone ELSE is AFK. Then the players vote to kick. Then people jsut start leaving. It's a piss-poor system. It only works if you have read-made groups.

I've yet to spent one cent. It just takes more time than spending cold cash. Your legendary gems are gotten by buying with Runes, using the Legendary tokens when running the Elder Rifts, buying with Hilts (upgrade fodder), or doung the Battle Pass stuff. Those Runes you get for running rifts, and the legendary tokens are earned by doing various things.

As it is, I'm starting to get bored. Like I said, not really a long-term game in my estimation. Since I just got a free copy of Fallout 76 recently, I decided to fire it up. At least the starter stuff reminds me of Fallout 1 and I'm having a pretty good time. Hard to complain when it's free. :) So far I can ignore the other players. haha.

What hell level are you playing at?

Picked it up on the PS5 also. Really enjoying it on the console with the Sony OLED and controller.
I cannot believe how much better OLED makes the picture.
It's so rich and colorful compared to my PC monitor which seems grey, dull, and just flat. OLED really does
add an element to the overall look of the graphics.
My pc monitor is pretty decent to(HP 27i Omen).

I've been trying to play immortal on my phone.
I just cannot get into gaming on my phone. Controls are just
horrible and although I'm playing on a i14pro max playing on small
screens just sucks.
The game just isn't that fun either. I'm not very far in and I can tell it's
setting up the game to be a pay-to-play type game.

I was surprised how playable the console versions of D3 was. Its definitely a better looking game with OLED since a lot of the game has varying degrees of black. Now get an OLED monitor.

As for Diablo, just stop now and save yourself the time. Its a great looking game and I think it looks even better than D3 but its definitely pay to win later. Which bums me out a lot.

On the flip side D4 is coming and that one is a stunner, played some of the beta this past week.
