Death Stranding

Was expecting as much. I see some saying it's a cinematic walking simulator while others are saying it's an abstract masterpiece.. Being a Kojima game I suppose it's somewhere in the middle..

I am on media blackout as much as possible, but knowing Kojima's games it probably has very deep gameplay mechanics and lots of story exposition which is what I love.

The few complaints I've heard so far are along the lines of the game being quite a slow burn.

It’s a glorified QWOP which is literally made up of fetch quests

I’m sure it will be weird and interesting but every review I’ve read has mentioned “boring” and “grating” at least somewhere in it.

Will wait for bargain bin.

the hell is a qwop?

Sounds really interesting, especially to those who wish to be a futuristic postman im sure. Cool, new, right on, awesome.

Even if you read the high scoring reviews for this game, the content of the review often doesn't match the final score. Words like "Boring, tedious, annoying, frustrating, pointless" litter the reviews. Seems like Kojima's name gives it +2 to the final review score.

While I'm glad there's developers out there trying something different, there needs to be people surrounding the lead director that are not "yes-men" that can say 'this is a poor system we have in place, we need to fix it.' Reminds me of the star wars prequels, where Lucas was surrounded by 'yes-men' who were afraid to speak up.

Wow first time I see such disparity in reviews. Watched the GSpot and they gave it a 9. Then watched IGN and they gave it a 6.8. Everyone says it is slow and boring as ****all. Going to be a hard pass for now. I still haven’t finished MGS3, 4 and 5. Not adding another Kojima game. Also I hate fetch quests to the max and this game is all about it.

Also the 9 was given by a woman. That means she don’t know what she is talking about. :bleh:

Been watching streams of this game for the past couple days and the consensus from the streamers have not been kind at all. A summary of their thoughts would probably be "the setting is cool, the ideas are interesting, but the gameplay is a tedious over-complicated, over-convoluted mess". Comments like "this should have been a movie, not a game" coming from stream viewers.

I think the reception would have been a lot less harsh if this were a $20 indie title from some nobody dev, where expectations would have been a lot lower to almost non existent. But for a full price tripleA title from a well known dev, looks like a lot of people are going to be disappointed.

The production quality is top notch though, everything from the visuals to the lighting to the models to the animations to the audio etc are superb.

Looks like a gamepass/rental title, as this video more or less represent the entire game if you are to believe the peeps on the interwebs.

I've been following this off and on for a while, but decided on a hard pass. Phrases like "lots, and lots, and lots of walking, delivering packages" and "Soothing the baby by rocking the controller" tell me this isn't for me.

Also, Reedus crying or looking like he's going to cry - not my type of game at all.

Sounds like it puts the Hideo in Hideous, another Kojima self-wank art project. I still haven't played Detroit Become Human that I have free on PS4, but even games like that seem to have way more gameplay.
