Cat 14.7 RC1 Out

What tha hell AMD is doing? 3rd revision of drivers with same files?!

DriverVer=07/09/2014, 14.200.1004.0000
Catalyst: 14.7

D3D: 9.14.10.01044
OGL: 6.14.10.12967
OCL: 10.0.1526.3
Mantle: 9.1.10.0020

same as Catalyst 14.6b1/14.6RC..

No Mantle improvements/optimizations for HD7000, OpenCL is not 100% stable with Photoshop CC, GTA IV still runs like crap, AC4 not optimized, and Watch Dogs is mess of a game, but back in a day AMD did made optimizations for new games?!

Because they promised one driver a month....and they have pretty much kept that promise, look at the extras as just refinements of the one they had scheduled. I wouldnt expect the real 14.7 til the last week of July in keeping with their previous release dates. geez what do you want a driver a week?

so far there has been a 14.1,2,3,4,5, and 6 all with major improvements. Each one has released the last week of the month. These extra ones obviously arent going to have those kind of changes, and it is unrealistic to expect them to. Look at these ones as hotfixes imo.

Hot Fixes would imply fixing issues not introducing them. Since the 14.6 Beta and RC1 and RC2 issues such as:

Mantle memory leak problems in BF4
Increase Temps on some but not all AMD GPU's but its to be expected when drivers utilize the GPU better.
Diablo 3 freeze on exit

And a few others.

The AOC fix is great for those who use an AOC Display. The fact is they ignore AAA titles which is what the card is used for, games like BF4, Watch Dogs, Diablo 3, WoW etc etc remain bugged or unplayable but hey Plants Vs Zombies requires a Crossfire Profile but Watch Dogs remains poor....

Not saying its a bad thing but come on, lets actually fix games people play rather then months and months of issues. I am getting tired of filling out a driver report form to AMD, this will be the 5th time I am filling one out....

EDIT: Installed the driver and did some quick tests -

1.) World Of Warcraft stutter galore, constant 60FPS and then for no reason 48FPS back to 60FPS then to 52FPS and then 60FPS. Happens more so when moving or flying. Does not occur on Nvidia. Disabling Crossfire or disabling Frame Pacing does nothing. This is at 4K.

2.) Diablo 3 massive stutter, disabling Crossfire or Frame Pacing does nothing. The game will show running at 60FPS but will drop to 20FPS for no reason and then stay there for about 5 seconds. Then it will jump back up to 60FPS. 60FPS though dosen't feel smooth all the time, mostly feels around 40FPS. Game locks when using ALT+F4 or exiting, this did not occur on 14.4 or 14.6 Beta only on RC1 and RC2 and now 14.7 RC1. Resolution 4K

3.) Watch Dog's runs like garbage at 4K, shows 60FPS but stutters and feels like 30FPS. Only 15% Scaling at 4K....

4.) Mantle crashes in BF4, not even able to open it without getting the out of memory error, does not occur on 14.4. Disabling Crossfire has no effect.

5.) 295x2 and 290x both show about 4c temp increase but meh.

5th driver in with AMD and not looking good at all. ( 14.4, 14.6 Beta, 14.6 RC1, 14.6 RC2 and 14.7 RC1 ).

BF4 works fine here
Diablo 3 works fine
WoW works fine
Watchdogs is bad on any platform

Sorry you bought a 295x2 and are rocking 4k, that sounds like 99% of your issue right there. Maybe you should sell it and get some titans? Not being a jerk, I am serious. You obviously have some serious problems with the hardware, so why give yourself the headache, sell it and move on. It honestly might be a case of the 295x2 and 4k being crap, and Nvidia might be the better solution despite what reviewers say. I really feel for ya knowing you spent that kind of dough and I imagine your pretty disappointed.

Dito.

And I'm pretty sure "Plants vs. Zombies" refers to the new Garden Warfare spin-off, not the original game. And that is a pretty new and big title.

1 WHQL release, 14.4 with 2 severe bugs , AHCI and internet video crashs

Beta and RC's are not releases...they are testing drivers for masochists
( And I do appreciate the effort of all (beta testers) you guys put in installing and trying those things... but I gave up on that grief a while back)

PS this 14.7 beta, thats a step back from RC to beta status...edit, oops if you click on beta notes you get a link to the 14.7 RC

Looks as if AMD has resolved the GPU scaling bug and although i am appreciative, i would prefer if they unlocked the pixel clock

Planetside 2 freezes up after a bit.
Divine Divinity Original Sin works great in single card, but in crossfire I've had it crash so hard that windows no longer recognized my cards and drivers being installed (ouch).

Pretty sure anything directx 9 is terrible anymore with 290x's and any of the latest catalysts. I think AMD just said screw directx 9.

Fallout 3 runs fine on my 7950 crossfire setup. No problems with Diablo3 either. Both are DX9 games.

yeah just seems like certain ones for me as well, Diablo3 runs great I didnt think of that. You know how it is, when what you want to run doesn't work then it is immediate hyperbole and darnit NOTHING WORKS!

so really its just one game that doesnt work for me and that is planetside 2. Divinity OS works but only in one card. It works in 3 card, but it really pushes the cards hard with no increase in framerate and then it starts artifcating, and give s a huge hard crash. (really weird)

Edit-Actually just fired up PS2 with one card and it runs fine, with 3 cards it crashes after about 5 minutes.

Err.....http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1040951872&postcount=4

It is the newer driver without version number being updated which is why they forgot to update that.

just a thought have you tried unloading drivers for & pulling the Creative Sound Blaster Z

would not be the first time I've seen Sound Blaster stuff break cfx I stopped using them years ago for that and who knows about it and mantle

Gave that a shot just now Bill without any success unfortunately...

I've also removed the 4K monitor and put my old Dell 30" in. Running the following.

1.) World Of Warcraft still stutters, using Afterburner+RivaTuner to view an overlay, GPU useage is spotty, showing Crossfire not functioning properly Sometimes GPU1 and 2 will be 0% while GPU3 is 100%, other times its 15%/15%/100% or spotty and all over the place. According to the AMD driver Crossfire is working though just extremely poor.

2.) Diablo 3 works good, but it still has that feeling that its not running where it should be even though the overlay states 60FPS it feels like 30FPS to 40FPS.

Frametime is high as well according to the overlay 16MS to 25MS in these titles. No throttling is occurring what so ever.
