BioShock Infinite

Don't mind this new game, looking forward to it as long as it's vastly different than Bioshock.

Do mind they are using Bioshock ip ala FarCry rip off.

Sense, this post makes none.

You want it to be vastly different from Bioshock. You don't want it to be like Far Cry 2, which was vastly different from its predecessor. Which is it!?

Far Cry 2 was a completely different game, made by a different developer, using different ideas from the first game. Bioshock: Infinite is very much a continued development from the first game, made by the same developer, using very similar ideas and philosophy.

Yeah Farcry 2 had clearly nothing to do with FC1.
But I dont see why the steampunk sortof universe of Bioshock can have underwater cities but not flying ones?
It fits perfectly with the outbreak utopian society thing going on in BS.
And they seem to be doing the same kind of wacky stuff up there as down in rapture, abilities and some sort of Big daddy type thing.

FC2 on the other hand had nothing to do with FC1.
It´s not like its all of a sudden high sci-fi vs the steampunky low scifi of the first 2 BS games.

This is way more exciting them more of rapture, I didnt even bother with BS2 since it looked very much like more of the same.

Reread my post, makes perfect sense. Happy they are making a new game, sick of Bioshock theme. Unhappy they are using the Bioshock ip to gain sales.

So you wouldnt have gone "ok, so they´re making Bioshock in the sky" if they called it something else?
Since that is essentially what they´ve done.

Meh, names are names only, if the game itself is good, they could call it PedoBearShock for all I care. But yeah, this trailer's got me interested, I'll definitely be following the progress of this game

Bioshock sucked compared to System Shock 1/2. There is a very small chance this won't happen with this one too.
I think BS1 was a sorta mediocre shooter with nice atmosphere.
But it has NOTHING on SS, and that they went out and called it a spiritual successor while it clearly was not, was sorta shooting themselves in the foot in the eyes of anyone excited by anything SS related.

Most things suck compared to SS1/2.

If by "sick of Bioshock theme" you mean you're sick of Rapture, then Infinite is interesting. If you mean you're sick of everything that was Bioshock, maybe you shouldn't be so happy they're continuing with this franchise.

With the same use of 'superpowers', Big Daddy-like things, political and philosophical themes, I'd say this has all the right to be called Bioshock. I don't think it's abusing the Bioshock IP at all. If anything, they're treating it much better than most developers/publishers treat their IP.

Looks fantastic and I love the new setting. I just hope they fix some of the countless issues with the original. For all the fantastic artwork and setting, I disliked pretty much everything else about it.

Hmm I was expecting something somewhat more innovative than what appears to be a similar style of game in a different location.

this is to bioschock as much as far cry 2 is to the original?
Why are you guys getting so bent out of shape on what name they use?

There's not really enough to jump to conclusions at this point anyway, but so far it seems thematically similar enough that the name is not wholly inappropriate. E.g. fantastical city, philosophical elements of a flawed or fallen utopia, stylized aesthetic design. I would not say Bioshock = Rapture and I'm a huge fan of Bioshock.

The video trailer has sooo many "easter eggs". For instance it hints at coop, with the player blending his spell with an ally's spell. It also shows some picture frames changing their content, which may have something to do with the story.

All in all, this trailer is really, really, good.

Didn't really care much for Bioshock. It was a crap shooter hiding behind decent artwork and a mediocre storyline. Don't know why people spew their spunk all over the game.
