BioShock Infinite

Time to try and milk a game ip.

The player assumes the role of former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, sent to the lost city to rescue Elizabeth, a young woman imprisoned there since childhood. He develops a relationship with Elizabeth, augmenting his abilities with hers so the pair may escape from a city that is literally falling from the sky. DeWitt must learn to fight foes in high-speed Sky-Line battles, engage in combat both indoors and amongst the clouds, and harness the power of dozens of new weapons and abilities.

I am absolutely loving the crap out of this. This is already practically a must-buy, simply because of the way Levine talks about this new game of his. The trailer is wonderful, and one thing really jumps out and connects with me: Bioshock 1 was done at the end of the game.

A lot of people (press in particular) got very excited at Bioshock 2, because they'd enjoyed the first so much. The first was a bit of a sleeper hit at the time. I enjoyed it too, but once I finished that game, I had absolutely no intention of revisiting Rapture. For me, that whole scene was done. So I never understood the excitement for Bioshock 2, which seemed literally more of the same, by a different developer who could never have treated it the way Irrational treats Bioshock: Infinite.

Now, I read this interview with Levine on Infinite, and he says this:
The reason we didn't do BioShock 2 is because... The time frame that game had, and the company understandably wanted another game in Rapture... But we felt we had said what we wanted to say about Rapture, about those kind of environments and that kind of feel.

And that's just spot on with my sentiments of the game, and the change of pace is exactly why this is a Bioshock game that I can fully look forward to. I never expected this big a change of style within the IP, but for me it's the only way to make Bioshock interesting again and I admire Irrational for doing it. Milking the IP? I think Bioshock 2 was a perfect example of milking, but Infinite is the perfect example of how to revitalise one.

Yay!

Well, Bioshock is ALL about Rapture, as Far Cry was all about the island. Yes, this will probably be a great game, but it won't be Bioshock. They should have named it something else.

Looks great to me.

They just inverted the idea of the first Bioshock.
A very smart thing to do.

I'm glad we had Bioshock2, which was a fine game, although it was never going to have the same impact as the first.

I'm really looking forward to this.

Yeah Bioshock is one of the best games I have played but Bioshock 2 was boring. I was done with that feel and enviroment after the first and the second was just boring and pain in the ass to play and I have never finished it.

I really look forward to this one

I loved the 2nd one. Even in rapture, the new enemies, weapons, big sisters it was just  and

You must finish it!!

Don't mind this new game, looking forward to it as long as it's vastly different than Bioshock.

Do mind they are using Bioshock ip ala FarCry rip off.

It's years off so plenty of time to worry about it.
