Best 4k HDR TVs gaming 2017

Well because of space reasons I set up the Sony and I am very impressed. All my games are coming in the mail so I have to wait to test out 4k hdr but I watched just some basic upscaled 1080P to 4k and it looks fantastic. Doesn't quite have the color pop that higher end models have probably but after setting up this 49" TV it is absolutely the biggest TV I could fit in this room. Its actually probably just a little to big but thats alright.

My main issue is comcast... watching cable TV on this TV is a waste. Stretching out a 720P signal to a 49" TV sucks balls. My 40" 1080P TV looked a little better and it was a cheap Toshiba 40" HDTV.

But everything else is great including my cheapo sony receiver thats about 10 years old that I bought for 150 bucks works great with the new TV. Just hooked it up through the optical output and we are good.

I am surprised at how fluid the smart options are on the TV. I won't really use them much but the UI and all the options feel great.

I probably still need to calibrate it a little better.

I could have taken a 45 minute ride and picked up the curved samsung ks8500 for 1200 but I chose not to go curved and like I mentioned with ks8000 9000 series, I would have to make unpleasant modifications. If Samsung didn't make there stand like that I would have grabbed the 49"ks8000 but according to Best Buy there is no such thing.

Which is clearly BS because:

This is the TV I wanted but oh well, it wasn't meant to be.

It sucks they killed off Plasma before OLED got more reasonable in price.

I'd live without a TV, if you can save the difference to get an OLED in a reasonable amount of time.

But that's because LCD and their motion compensating tricks, make me nauseous. :bleh:

+1 for OLED.

I used to have a high end Samsung TV just 2 years ago. Despite being a top model it still had terrible light bleed (LED). Not sure if that's still the case now.

As far as I can tell from reviews, OLEDs still have imperfect grey tones and wonky gamma curves. Getting better, but you wouldn't be able to get reference display levels of accuracy out of them. Saying this, I could not tell in person.

I am actually really liking this x800D from Sony. Just a heads up for people wanting a cheap 4k TV that has most of the bells and whistles. The picture quality is really good for an 800 dollar TV. The viewing angles are fantastic. Some reviews say the remote sucks and you have press the button mutliple times.. I have no idea what they are talking about, its pretty damn smooth.

The only thing I noticed that I don't like when playing The Last of us remastered in upscaled 4k or whatever and HDR enabled, at some viewing angles I noticed the deep blacks have a wierd greyish look. But its hard to explain. Its not a big deal at all but its the only draw back I have seen with the bargain priced 4k HDR UHDTV.

So, my graphics card is not able to send 4k @ 60Hz and thus I've been running my Samsung KS8000 at 1080p resolution in games and Windows via HDMI. Well, after having to change up some furniture and what not around the house, I decided it was time to see about changing that. The card is capable of 4k at 60Hz through Display Port, so.... I picked up a Display Port to HDMI 2.0 adapter and wow. Native resolution on this panel as a monitor is amazing. Great colors, great clarity, great response time. I've been using the UpTab DP1.2 -> HDMI adapter over the past couple of days and it was pretty easy to setup, the only hiccup seems to come from my AV Receiver. Seems that it isn't quite sure what mode it wants. I can select a Standard signal or Enhanced and it bounces between working with the other every so often on cold boots.

But wow... So nice to game in some older titles at 4K/60Hz.

You got the 49" size? I got the 43" version because I read the bigger version has an IPS panel so the blacks aren't that good and HDR is crappier because the contrast ratio is much smaller - VA panel on the 43" version is much better at the expense of a smaller viewing angle. That and I plan to replace my monitor with it. The TV should be here tomorrow so I'll post some impressions when I can. Last of Us on the PS4 Pro is definitely on my list to try.

I've been doing my PC gaming on TV's for a while now, I can't game comfortably on my monitor anymore. Only use it for work, for gaming I roll my recliner over and grab the XBONE controller and I'm good. Will use a Sony XBR43X800D as a monitor from tomorrow onwards, hopefully if it is delivered to me tomorrow.

True VA panels apparently have better black levels but I honestly can't see much of a difference. The viewing angle is great on the 49". I am not overly picky about TV's, I am much more picky about monitors. I would spend 1500 on a great monitor. i haven't used the TV much yet for games anyway. Just The Last of Us so far. Great game my kind of game. But it does have a morbid atmosphere.

I needed a cheapish 50" Tv for the office/guestroom and went with the Vizio d50u-d1 and it has been amazing so far. I have to drop it down to 1080p simply because my graphic card can't handle 4k but once I get a new card I should be good.
