Another reason to like LastPass

Have been using LastPass for a year or so, and really appreciate it ... enough so that I stepped up from the free version awhile back. Anyway, few minutes ago I had to reset my pwd for an online merchant. Few minutes later, got an email from LastPass ...

Pretty cool.

I love LastPass; it's just about seamless, going between my home machine, my work machine, and my phone.

Definitely worth 12 bucks a year.

Oh man.

Got my new laptop a few days ago, and am getting to the software side now. Installed Lastpass, and was greeted with a "fingerprint reader detected - would you like to use this with Lastpass?" message. Swiped my finger and boom. Anytime I need to access my secure passwords, it simply prompts me to swipe my finger instead of requiring to input my master password. How cool is that.

Yea the fingerprint option is awesome. Lastpass can use anything WBF compatible, which means devices like my Eikon scanner work. I just bought a newly released Eikon mini reader for $10, it works great for my laptop.

Nice! I wonder if there is a fingerprint implementation for my android phone ...

Been using Lastpass for awhile now. Love it. Might get the paid version sometime in the future, but it fits all my current needs right now.

Only downside is, if I don't have it I'm screwed. My more important sites have randomly generated passwords that I could never remember.

I have been a long time lastpass user. It makes password and user name entry so easy and sesecure. I use the security grid feature as well just another lever of security. Because someone even if they get your master password needs to enter the correcut values on the grid.,

Fingerprint scanners are notoriously bad, so it's better to use all possible measures for safety. I once "hacked" the laptop of a colleague. Lifted a print from the laptop itself, colored it, put it under the photocopier, kut the paper out and a few minutes later I was in...

Fingerprint scanners from 10 years ago maybe. Today, something like an Eikon swipe scanner is incredibly hard to spoof, considering you need to find capacitive mold material to even attempt it.

True, but then again, that kind of stuf usually isn't inside the most (cheap) corporate laptops. 99,9% is still crap or slightly less crappy. Don't put trust into these things unless you are sure... specially if you use it to lock a virtual locker stocked with all your passwords...

Actually Eikon/Authentec swipe scanners are used in over 90% of all devices with the technology built in. Corporate/government laptops use them exclusively as they are the only FIPS 201 compliant device available. Not surprised since they own 200 patents for the technology. Basically, if its a swipe style scanner, its an Eikon guaranteed. Also, the Eikon scanners are not 99.9% reliable, they are 99.9993% reliable.

If someone wanted your lastpass data, it would be easier to:
1. Kidnap you and use your finger to login.
2. Guess/brute force the password to your lastpass account.
3. Guess/brute force the password to your email account for password resets.
4. Keylog your computer to capture your password.

Though if you find an optical style scanner, destroy it

I've been using LastPass for a while now too and just felt compelled to spread the word about how great it is.

Found this thread.:)

Also, its damn scary to realize how many different usernames and passwords I had memorized in my mind.

What is this? A site that basically stores all of your passwords so you only need one I'm guessing? Convenient but not 100% I'd imagine. Like for the multiple passwords I need at work on our corporate intranet I doubt this would do any good as it'd likely be block since it isn't a corporate approved tool?

But for personal use I see the appeal.

On the subject of fingerprint scanners- I loathe them. The concept is sound, implementation leaves much to be desired. I base this off of client's whom drop off their computer for servicing and use the fingerprint scanner without password.

#$**@#$*@#@#**!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *spits on ground*

Don't know about your job, but I use LastPass at work. It works on the web browser level. Any login prompt in your browser can be handled by LastPass. It is VERY convenient, I can't believe I waited so long to try it.

All passwords are encrypted on the local machine too, so you can be confident its secure.
