AMD Catalyst 14.6 RC2 (14.200.1004.0 June 20)

I doubt people will pay any more attention to this kind of advice than they did more than a decade ago...;) It must be that some people have Windows installed along with 1-2 games--so "reinstalling Windows from scratch" isn't a big deal for them...;) Even without sysprep there are many things people could and should do before they *ever* "format c:\ & reinstall." The foremost software advice for OS X problems is "reinstall the OS," but you'd think that Windows people would be in an entirely different class, wouldn't you? I mean--people used to understanding and solving their problems short of merely "reinstalling the OS."

At home I have a dozen major programs installed--at least--and 3-4 *dozen* games, so "reinstalling the OS" would be a major undertaking for me...;) It's never just the OS that has to be "reinstalled" is it?...;)

i just upgraded my CPU to devils canyon and a z97-a today.

Just like every upgrade, i used sysprep and the generalize option.

Not a single hitch, and all my proggies are fully functional.

literally took 2 minutes to boot up and install all the generic drivers.

people are nuts...

sounds great for that and I've never used it or head of it before to be honest

so if my install is already F'ed up making a image with sysprep is going to fix it ?

and
Sysprep must not be used on upgrade installation types. Run Sysprep only on clean installations

so I upgraded from windows 8 to 8.1 so i'm sort of dead there :hmm:

Ive never tried it on an upgraded OS, but i would think it should be fine. MS is probably being overly caucious. 8 abd 8.1 are pretty similar. If you went from vista to 7 or something, that might cause a problem. It does remove the SSIDs, so that may be what they are concered with an upgraded OS as you have to renter you product key just like a fresh install.

it basically wipes out all drivers and "generalizes" the install so you can put the same image on any hardware.

it doesnt make an image per se, you image the drive after you run it if you want to distribute it to multiple workstations.

Anytime if you have borked driver installs or upgraded a mobo, you just run it with the generalize option and it yanks out all the drivers and restarts just like a fresh windows install but it doesnt mess with your installed programs or system settings.

Ive been using it since the XP days, it really is a very useful tool.

Been having BSOD's, most likely since I installed 14.6 beta1, relating to dxgkrnl.sys.

Happens most likely when in eyefinity, when launching, or killing a game. I have two 290x's in crossfire. Nearly never crashes in game, and displayfusion seems to trigger it...

Has anyone else been having BSOD's anything like this? I'm gonna go back to 14.4 when I get home tonight.

AMD Catalyst 14.6 RC2
Build Info:
DriverVer=06/20/2014, 14.200.1004.0000

D3D: 9.14.10.01044
OGL: 6.14.10.12967
OCL: 10.0.1526.3
Mantle: 9.1.10.0020

These driver are not good and no different from 14.6beta, are they going to be 14.7 WHQL? :) because we're screwed then. What's happening to AMD, they had solid drivers last year, but from 13.12 there are no good drivers, really! Does anyone have any info what is happening is there going to be some changes cause this is terrible?!

you might want to specify what your actual problem is, as we arent psychic...

I am ... :D
But in this moment i don't want his problem to make it into my brain...Looking at the moon is much more intersting...The guy with the "problem" should do that too ... :p

The bug where second GPU runs at 99% activity in cross-fire aware applications, is back. It may have been there in the previous drivers too, but I do remember 14.2beta didn't have it. I think you have to go all the way back to 13.4 WHQL to get rid of this issue. Amazing, that this bug was never fixed, when it even made it to the list of known issues during some driver releases.

The workaround is to have ULPS disabled through a registry setting tweak. However, in 14.6RC, I have had some game stability issues with ULPS disabled.

14.7RC

14.7RC

July 10th update. same link as first post.

Ok, I guess I should care about (I dont) the threads below the stickys. Day late on this post.
Anyhoo installed these and no issues on that except the version info reads 14.6RC..... The DL package is 14.7RC.... And I installed from 13.11:bleh:

Hey Andrew D, too much WorldCup:confused: lame-O.
