Alienware AW3423DW QD-Oled 34" Ultrawide

i was hoping he would look at text rendering as it has been the common compliant so far due to the pixel layout being pretty different from what we are used to.

Pretty sure it's only on Mac that does that, windows has an algorithm via smooth text to work with the triangle pixel layout of the QD-Oled. It's still different, but it's not as much as people on Mac complain about (almost unusable).

Macs have rendering trouble on anything other than a 4K or 1K monitor. There's an app that allows the MacOS to work around this limitation and it supposedly fixes the font scaling dramatically. Haven't tried it though. Apple needs to pull their thumb out and fix this in the OS.

Does the GSync module support VESA adaptive sync/FreeSync also? I can see it's mentioned in the manual under troubleshooting, but only under flickering and solution is turning FreeSync off in display drivers...

Yes any recent monitor with a GSync module supports VESA VRR/FreeSync. The old GSync modules did not, but that changed 2, maybe 3 years ago.

I decided to roll with my current 48" LG CX. Internet guys told me I need a free-standing tower to get line-of-site over the road. Gonna set me back about $1,200. The cost of living among the trees, I guess. :/

Any gay got this. Was thinking about pulling the trigger tonight but held off after hardware unboxed review. It is in stock and ready to ship as well so was excited about it. What up?

In stock where? On the Dell website is shows a July 7 ship date.

Crap. I somehow read it as May 7th date lol.

But still HDTV test and Hardware Unboxed both paned the monitor.

It's a great monitor that has some flaws. Some people are able to look past them, some aren't. After watching a ton of reviews, I don't think it's as impressive as the marketing made it out to be, especially since the flaws are pretty distracting for desktop usage.

Next iteration of QD-OLED may be able to fix some of it, who knows. I'm interested.

True. If this were 32/35 inch 4K I will be all over it. Was willing to compromise the aspect ratio to get the OLED goodness on my table but a noisy fan is something that won’t work for me since my home is very silent. Text etc wasn’t an issue for me and I like over saturated colors so that also wasn’t an issue.
