Why oh why did I think I could remove my own transmission?

So the place I towed the truck to finally got back to me (after it sitting there since Friday). They are basically saying they are going to order a new Torque Converter, and just redo the project from beginning to end. I"m disappointed they won't do more detective work, but I can also understand it takes alot of work to get to the TC and put it back to test.

Shops lose money the longer a vehicle takes up a spot in the shop. They make more money doing multiple small jobs and having more cars in/out of each bay during a day. With that, they will focus on whatever will open the bay up quicker so I'm not surprised they aren't offering to do any detective work.

Understandable....

Just hate the thought that they come back after $1500 and we find out it's not the TC, it's something else......or....it was something as simple as I screwed up the shifter cable.

And that kind of work the labor costs can blow out well over any parts costs.

Though I like to ask for the replaced parts back to see whats what and as possible spares.
