It's Back!

Not sure how these things work and when exactly the registration will be completely deleted, but can't any of you in the US (or wherever godaddy is) contact them and book the domain, then re-register it? Isn't it like 10 bucks a year?

Owners have priority for renewal. No one can buy it for 30, 60, or 90 days after the domain expires (this depends on the domain holder's policy).

Often, when the domain gets "released" it turns into an auction. There is a good chance that someone will pick it up and try to sell it for higher. Right now it looks like it's going for $70, but I'm pretty sure there's a grace period for the previous owner to respond to the expiration.

Has anyone heard from Lupine?

Do we need to pass the hat around to raise money to get the domain name back?

I think it's not Lupe but Eric (Ichy) that owned the domain. I've been in contact with Curio but will reach out to the guys to see who's doing what.

rage-3d.com is available.
as is rage2d.com.

(If we can't get original back)
@globalist, there isn't a discord, but a slack which is rather dead. I think discord might work better for this particular community.

That would require someone with access to the hosting to switch over the domain records.

Not required. You can buy a domain name and point it to any I.P. address you want (or another domain name, or a subfolder within a domain, etc.). We could buy www.3atmyan00s.com and point it to 209.147.121.98 and that would be our new site. :D

I think the larger issue here is there is no point to procure a domain name if there is no way to reliably keep the host up and running. Looking up the I.P. address I am no longer confident that this site is hosted somewhere (which would be a good thing because we know the database won't disappear forever because of unpaid bills).

I got so excited when I clicked on my bookmark a minute ago and the site came up that I farted. :embarrassed:

(staying at home is making me lose my filter)

RageCBT! That's the one, guys.

See below for a written definition of the term (not safe for work).

Cock and ball torture. I won't link to it here, but there is a very amusing article about the topic on Wikipedia. Be warned, however: it contains graphic and possibly disturbing nude images.

No plz !_!

Maybe about 6 or so years ago, it's too late now, or at least pointless.

I have to agree with this. If this site finally goes the way of the dodo, not sure if it would be worth the effort to keep alive for the handful of people remaining. Can just migrate to another forum like Beyond3D, Anandtech, KACtech, or whatever where everyone more or less has the same name anyway.

I don't know if I agree. All things come to an end eventually; with AMD increasing market share this site should be growing. But it's not because of an email issue where new users cannot join since 20mother****ing17.

The days where we praised Ratchet for creating and improving the Radeon tool (I don't even remember what it was called... ATI Configurator?) and it worked ridiculously well compared to ATI's own controls are long gone. Also he created these kewl themes that don't look right above 1920 x 1080.

The days when this site was new (and when I was young and cocky but not in a gay way) are days I don't want to forget. I like going back and looking at those old threads. The WayBack Machine sucks.

Nonsense. Rage3D is eternal! :nazi:

So if everyone dies there's no one to replace us? Well that's the nail on the coffin, it's time to put the old dog down for good and get a new one.
