It's Back!

how long until it stops working altogether?

When users stop coming back? The forum isn't alive without the usual active members. The rest of the members might not know the site works with ip address. :bleh: Should we PM them and hope they get a copy in their emails? or Just let them figure it out themselves?:bleh:

if the domain name isn't being funded, i'm guessing that the hosting service isn't either.

Isn't the hosting service a monthly thing? I thought lupine owns the site and pays the bills. Is it possible they just forgot to renew the domain name?:bleh:

I don't think Lupine owns the site. Ichneumon was the owner the last I knew.

I doubt Ich can access the server physically. This thing is hosted somewhere. [EDIT: Probably GoDaddy - they aren't just for domain names.]

OT: I love how we have 258 "guests" just browsing the IP address.

One of 2 hamsters died? I say we buy a squirrel this time. Tougher and quicker little ****ers.

NOTICE: This domain name expired on 4/11/2020 and is pending renewal or deletion.

Not sure how these things work and when exactly the registration will be completely deleted, but can't any of you in the US (or wherever godaddy is) contact them and book the domain, then re-register it? Isn't it like 10 bucks a year?

So no backups or anything?
Do any of us need to be ready to try and grab the domain so we can keep the site going? Or is this whole mess moving to Discord, LOL

Whoever owns the domain registration needs to buy it for a year or two. The hosting is separate from the actual server which I reckon' is colocated to a data center somewhere.

I'm guessing it's Ich but I doubt they care that much. They should have just handed over the site to people who have the time and interest in developing it.
