Dark Souls 3 - Official Discussion

So, after a bit of frustration with the Spear of the Church (I ended up going offline), I'm finally on Gael. That Spears fight was bullshit. I figured out you can destroy the tall dude fast, and then backstab and obliterate the Painted Guardian that shows up. But I kept getting the same PVP player like 3 times for a while. And he was a ****ing asshole. What looked like a meta-build with Havel's set that could fast roll and he teleported all over the fight. I maybe landed a half dozen backstab animations only to have it do zero damage. At one point the little **** started spamming emotes at me during our third fight. I'd land a backstab for zero damage, and he'd drop a "HELLO" rock, I'd land another backstab for zero damage, and he'd do a "lay down" animation.

Walked away for a bit and tried again, got a few different random players, but all of them straight up destroyed me. Weird builds it seemed. And I guess a lot of lag. Anyways, I got frustrated. Realized I could go offline. Fought an NPC summon instead and had zero issues with him/her whatever they were.

Now I'm on Gael. Kinda don't want it all to end. I've been dropping my summon sign and helping others just to get a sense of the fight. Gael has a ****load of health.

I did the spear fight offline too. After the 3rd or so attempt I gave up on the pvp garbage that opened you up to.

Gael is still one of my all time favorite boss fights though. :)

So, I had some spare time and loaded this again to see how it feels like now. Got the first attack helicopter angel down and proceeded a bit forwards, and it feels intense. And at the same time, a bit boring.

The formula seems to be all about rushing forward to search for the next ambush location of the spawning skeleton things, dying if there are too many of them or some additional enemies, running back again to kill the spawn master and clean the other ones, push to the next ambush, rinse and repeat. Perfectly doable, but very time consuming. I don't think that I have time for that anymore, I think that I'm done with the game for now. :) There's plenty of other games to play.

I would agree with you, I found the starting part to be really kinda meh and almost quit. Keep going, it's probably the best DLC out of most of the souls series. I would it's second or third next to Bloodborne DLC and DS1 Artorias. It gets good, harder but worth it. Last fight is horseshit but it's intense.
