It’s progressing very well internally in our lab, but it’s our commitment to the gaming community that it needs to be open that it needs to work across all things and game developers need to adopt it. Even though it’s progressing well, we still have more work to do and not only internally but with our game developer partners. We want to launch it this year. We believe we can do that this year, but at the same time we a lot more work ahead of us. We need to make sure the image quality is there. We need to make sure it can scale from different resolutions. And at the same time that our game developers are happy with what we are producing.

The native 4K frame manages 18.6 fps, while the 1080p rendered frame hits 43 fps.
This is the 2nd time Ive read of game engines adopting their own form of upscaling. At this rate it might not only kibosh DLSS but any gpu vendor tech like GSR/FSR imo...

AMD says it has "worked closely with Epic to optimize TSR features on Radeon powered systems. A standard feature of UE5, TSR is enabled for all GPUs and provides state-of-the-art upscaling not just on PC, but on PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, too."

Ya definitely by optimizing for consoles its optimzed for RDNA by default. Whats great about this is you can run it on older gpus... at least as far back as RDNA1.

Tho rumor is GSR/FSR will go back further and run on RX480 on up.
 
Start keeping an eye out for UE5 videos showing off Temporal Super Resolution. I suspect, AMD's solution is going to be relatively similar as I also suspect it's using allot of the same techniques. EPIC worked with AMD on making sure UE5 would work well on Radeon hardware... but we have no idea if that included this feature.

This is the only video I've seen so far, where we get a peek at what it can look like. At the timestamped link below, he's rendering @ 25% resolution scale, which he says is 540p and he ramps up through the AA modes in UE5. The high and epic settings are EPIC's temporal super resolution. I'm impressed, but it's a pretty still shot. I want to see motion.

I suppose I could just download UE5 and see for myself maybe? Not sure my R9 Fury will work.
 
Cool Il try that after work later... I have a Vega 64 hopefully that can run it somewhat half decent

AMD just announced FXR at up from 50% to a whopping 3x perf increase. They call it spatial algorithm and anything RX 500 and up will use it.

Game showcased Godfall looked good at ultra quality for 50% perf increase. Theres 4 settings.

Also next cool takeaway is the 3dv stacked ram on die that gives a 15% added perf in games from the ram alone. Coming end of this year in next series of cpus! Wonder if thats zen4 or zen3+ because they had a prototype running on current zen3 for that added 15% so any architectural change will also give more ipc on top...

I'm downloading UE5 preview and the Valley of the Ancients sample to see if I can test it out. Both are free btw, so anyone can do this. Below link has instructions.

My system is way WAY below the recommended specs in every category. So will be interesting :lol:

Running the tech demo now but you cant do much other than scroll thru the world... its smooth and highly detailed. In moving I end up clipping thru the world. Can go front or backwards and aim sideways with the mouseview but cant go up or down. Without an avatar to run in 3d its only moving the backgrounds. I can see her sitting there but cant take control of her.

Massive dual dl of ue5 then the demo sample.

Edit: ok ran the demo using right mouse button pressed to mouse point and arrow keys to move/fly... very smooth and nice area which is pretty huge...

OK just a warning UE5 and/or VOTA flooded my cloud one drive with its assets. Im struggling to get this **** out of there its mixed it in with all the photos.
 
Looks good but I did notice some blur on the right side where FXR is enabled, unless it was just me.

Still looking forward to using it though, see if it will help with my GeForce 970 lol

I'm almost certain that a little bit of a good sharpening filter will rain in allot of the blur. What an odd state of graphics we are in :lol:

Sweet! Always thought it weird they mentioned rx 500 and up...rx480 is basically just a slower rx 580.
 
Well all the GCN stuff is extremely similar. If it works on RX400 series and RX500 series it will likely work on R*-300, R*-200 and Fury series. So I look forward to the list growing :D

BTW did you try the UE5 tech demo sampler? Have to say I was very impressed by the lack of popup when flying towards a mountain miles away... It just kept getting smoothly bigger and more detailed. Makes a big diff in making it feel more immersive.

R9 Fury's are Fiji based, which was GCN 3(Most of the R* 300 series). The Fury's used HBM, like Vega. But the Vega series is based on GCN 5.

I ran out of HDD space :lol:. I'm hoping I have time this week to remove some games to make space and then install it. Although by that time, some one might release a compiled UE5 demo that lets me look at the feature with less involvement :)
