Yes, I think the one included is patched to the latest version...if so, yes it does use it by default. You need to go to the console or edit the config.cfg file to mess with the settings...they didn't include the option in the gui. The settings are ati_npatch 1/0 to turn it on/off (default is on), and ati_subdiv 0-7 (I think it is 7)...I think the default is 2 (good enough).
RTCW patched to the latest version has a menu option for truform I believe (one that actually works in the latest patch).
UT, there used to be a hacked renderer that enabled software truform, but I don't think it was updated to use the hardware accelerated one (when it was finalized for the 8500, the extension was renamed). Also, you lose some graphics options because the source it was based on isn't the latest, IIRC (if I remember correctly).
SS SE has it...but by default it only uses it for truform checked models (and I don't think there are many). You can force it, but you'll have to reasearch how.
Don't know what some of the others are and/or don't think they have truform support.
One other that comes to mind is Soul Reaver 2 (excellent support...the best yet that I've seen). Also, there is a multiplayer mod that can be used with half life (I've heard some wierd things about the helf-life included with the 8500...not sure if it can use mods) called Day of Defeat. v 2.0 is the latest I know of, and it looks very good with truform...it is extra special in that I have a 7000 series Radeon, which does it in software for a mssive fps hit, and it is still VERY playable...should blaze on your 8500.
