woot - can you do this?

Start the map in FFA with no bots and at the console type '/g_gametype 3' (no quotes) then just restart the map through the menu. Once it's restarted you can add the bots to their appropriate team.

Because we Quakers prefer to do 99% of stuff via the console. Even if Id did waste their time making the UI more friendly, almost everyone would use the console anyway.

right, and damn anyone who doesnt want to waste time memorizing 32563592592 seperate console commands.

100 to 2

100 to 2

Hmmm. . .probably should have skunked them. . .

UT Engine would be a great platform for any game, in my opinion even better than the q3 engine, to bad developers have no time to create mods for it and code it.

ahh i feel a flame!,

quake3 engine is way better.

see the period at the end of the above line?

Uh oh...I smell religion creeping in...

:)

I think Q3 is a good *engine* (though not the best), but I got sick of Q3A while it was still Q3Test (hop hop hop). Now MOHAA is worlds better (IMHQFHO) on the same engine.

Mize

(IMHQFHO = in my hates quake frogs humble opinion)

This totally OT, and it will probably be locked, but i like the Unreal engine because it is so modular. The Q3 engine is hardcoded, so you can't just rip out pieces and stuff other things in. With Unreal Engine you can take out some part, and put another in, or add stuff. That's what they are doing now, for Unreal2, the recently added the Karma engine, which enables insanely realistic physics, collision detections and stuff like that. They will also add DX8 stuff along the way, in the form of a seperate api, afaik. That is what Legend says, anyway.
That is way cooler and more timeconserving than doing a new engine each time. The Q3 engine has been more or less totally rewritten for DooM, with the exception of inputs and stuff like that, really basic things.

The quake3 engine is a bit more than the UT engine (curvy surfaces), and to me it runs faster, but the UT engine has a few things over the Q3 engine as well... I just can't think of any right now...

That's the only level I can beat on Nightmare difficulty..

As for the Q3 vs UT engine debate, each one has something the other doesn't. Neither is "better", perse, than the other. They are both really good, and will likely be around for quite some time to come.

BTW, did the UT engine ever get full OpenGL support? Last I checked, everything was "Experimental OpenGL". Just wondering..
