I'm a cheap bastard and the Windows 10 free upgrade spoiled me. Now that I built a new computer I'm need to get a new license, but I dislike paying retail. Where can I get a license for cheap?

I see https://www.scdkey.com advertising cheap Win 10 keys a lot. Not sure how legit they are, but they've been doing it for a long time so I assume the keys work.

I had a terrible win7 experience once, along with several other guys on my old forum, and decided it was worth it to just go genuine off microsoft's or other legit site from then on. The extra few bucks is worth the peace of mind for me. Got no time for that shady stuff....

you even can buy them (OEM-Version) (legit of course) over Amazon for a laughable price. Really don't see where's the problem. I actually always bought my keys there, the highest price was around what....18 bucks or so.

What kind of work do you do? Your company can't allocate a license to you for "home work purposes?"

Interesting they can allocated a license for any other Microsoft Product for home use, like Office 365, but not Windows itself.

You wanna link to that awesome Amazon deal where a Windows 10 OEM license key is anywhere close to an $18 price? All Windows 10 Home prices that I can see on Amazon are around $100.

Someone nudged me over to Kinguin, which seems like a good choice.

Not according to the comments on that video

Strangely, I got a working solution from those comments.
But for how long :sherlock:

Speaking of solutions strange you dont have a spare Windows 7 or 8 key lying around you could just download the relevant iso from MS and jam in your 7/8 key and it would have been fine.

If you used the upgrade route, your new key is digitally issued. Link it to your MS account and activate the new install using that linked account. :-)

My Windows 7 Professional upgrade got me a Windows 10 Professional Retail Digital License.

(Unless you are keeping your old rig?)

Kinguin hasn't let me down once, so yeah, that also would be a viable Option. As for Amazon, here are a bunch of keys, unsorted. Of course that's the german Amazon.

If you have a Windows 7 or Windows 8 CD Key...just use it and Windows 10 will activate. I have had others, even now, use their old Windows 7 keys...and during install....Win 10 took it and was activated on first full boot. No need to purchase a cheap key.

That pricing is exclusive solely to Germany. It wouldn't take my regular Amazon account. Not even people in the UK can buy those licenses.

And it's because those are not new licenses, they're just old OEM licenses re-sold because of a German law that allows it.

OEM copies are locked to the device on which they're sold, retail copies can be transferred to a different device as long as the old copy is removed first. (The Windows 10 EULA includes a specific exception for PC buyers in Germany, who are allowed to transfer OEM software thanks to a court ruling.)
