Windows 10 1703 15063 Creators update

It has completely fuc**ed up my sound blaster xtreme gamer again. This happened when Win 10 originally came out. Absolutely no sound whatsoever. TBH it's as much a Creative problem as MS so I just enabled my onboard sound hooked up the cables and now getting 5.1 surround sound which isn't that bad. Need to play with the settings but I think I'm now done with creative. If they can't be bothered producing a decent driver sod them. Also for future upgrades no legacy pci slot required. Only bought this MB because of that. Oh well sh*t happens.
Creative has been **** with drivers for years not sure why you're even bothering with that company anymore.

I made a video here. The updated NVidia driver hasn't solved the problem for me. The system still boots up and puts my display into the incorrect mode. I have to flip it to RGB and then back to ycbcr 4:4:4 to get it out of this.

Randomly it will just work sometimes. No idea why.

Prior to getting this update, I would have around 65 processes upon boot up. Now I have just over 100 but the RAM usage is the same. Normal?

I went from 93 to 136 after creators and same ram usage as well.

Thanks.

What about Game Mode? Should I leave it on or off?
Considering you have to turn it on for each game you play with very few getting it turned on automatically there is no harm in keeping it on. Then again the internet is awash with a mixed bag. Some say it drops performance with older games and gives a few more fps in newer ones and other sites say it does **** all.

Me I have the feature enabled but the dumbass game bar (Win key + G) that is supposed to pop up so I can enable the mode for a game doesn't so I cant give you any numbers of my own. That being said I haven't seen any negative effects with it on and not doing anything so ¬_¬

EDIT:
Kicked the game settings for windows 10 in the dick and I got the game bar to show up.

Testing Follows in quotes from me for easy readability :3

And that's the tests I'm willing to do there would have been more games but of the 8 or 9 I tried only these ones allowed me to press Win key + G and enable game mode. Should be a good start for ya and give you an idea.

I just filed a bug report with NVidia over the color output format issue with the creator's update I'm seeing. If I don't get this resolved in the next driver update from NVidia or patch release from MS I may go ahead and roll back the system if I'm still able at that point. Before doing so I may attempt to force an older version of the display driver first.

My Z-series sometime loses sound too. Some kind of bug that messes with the output. I have to put the PC in and out of sleep to reset it.
I heard creative will unveil a new card sometime this year. Would you go creative again?:bleh:

Absolutely no chance I'm done with them TBH. Since Windows 7 they've not released a reliable driver or software suite and I had to do all sorts of tomfoolery to get the card working under Windows 10. I think it was Demo who posted how to do that. I'm totally done with them.

Just for you guys that play with your OS they removed the control panel option when you right click on the start button. A big "FU" for us administraters.

This bugs me more then anything else. What's next to go, Network Connections? I will not be pleased. Maybe is only a Home thing versus Pro? Or can be reenabled again? Just makes me wanna hold off even longer on the CU. Am on 1607 right now and everything is working flawlessly. Am super fidgity about this update and not wanting to do it. Might defer it as long as I can.

I ran the installer for the Nvidia 378.92 driver from March. Selected clean install. This downgraded my driver from the current version without any issues.

The problem with ycbcr444 mode has been solved for me by doing this. Until they fix the issue I am going to be stuck on this version of the driver.

any way to never install this crap? I have a new laptop and really dont want to deal with it

Just did the update. Fallout 4 being stuttery mess again, clean driver install don't fix it. Thankfully DDU comes to save the day, the game buttery smooth again. Apart from that bootup seems a lot faster than before. I jump from 1511 to this.

I install because I found the Bloatware Free Edition ISO. Just mount it on virtual drive, install and update went smoothly.

I still need to bone the creator's update. Maybe I will fire the other windows today and let is update overnight.

I have a gripe. This has been an issue since RTM, but it still annoys me.

Why can't I just pin whatever the hell I want to the start menu? It's stupid!

Two examples:

1. Have chrome setup with two profile directories so that I can keep my work settings/extensions/bookmarks separate without using different browser installs. If I have one shortcut pinned, I can't pin the other one. They are separate shortcuts, just because they point to the same executable, doesn't mean they are the same

2. Can't pin any files from network drives, but I can pin folders within those drives? Wtf?

Another major windows update, and I still have the random hard-freeze with sound loop issue that renders windows 10 unusable on my desktop.
Windows 7, no issues.

Go figure. (And yes, fresh format and reinstall, not upgrade. I have to nuke and pave for every major windows update because it will lock up before windows can install such a large update).

Still no luck figuring out which driver causes the issue, but assuming motherboard related. Not the only one saying windows 10 doesn't like the mobo I have. but changing that means CPU/Mobo upgrade, which costs more than I wish to spend.

Trying installing with just the video card and keyboard exclude the sound and Ethernet.

Battlefield one has been doing nothing but stuttering since this update. Every other game I play runs just fine.
