Win2000 and DirectX9, a go?

I have heard from some people that it isn't going to be supported and from others it will. What is the truth? I really like Win2000 and dont want to go to XP.
 
Various boards and the such, and others that state the opposite. I just dont want to build my next project computer before I find out.
