What TV shows are you currently watching?

Ya doing backstories this far into the show is a bit much... its distracting. And they only have 12 eps left with the end in S5. Homelander is well on his way now to full nazi. Its gonna get nuts.

The Boys .. one of the best shows. I agree with Mangler.. don't care that much for Frenchie... Homelander is fcking insane.

Finished Fallout.

It was okay. Kind of what I expected. Not a great story. Which makes sense because the games were more about the setting than a great narrative.

A little disappointing that they had the main characters end up in a vault again. That's just a less interesting setting than the wasteland. Feels like they didn't explore the surface enough. And they did leave out a couple of the iconic wasteland creatures no super mutants or deathclaws .

But, overall, I enjoyed watching it.

I think they left your spoiler for Season 2.

Yeah, I assume so. I think the skull on the ground at the end was supposed to be a deathclaw
I just thought it was a little odd that they explore the wasteland, and other than the ghouls, the main creature they show was a lake monster, which I don't remember from the games .

Supacell (Netflix) - First half started out interesting but second half started feeling contrived as they realized they were running out of episodes or something. Short show ended fully expecting another season.

Ran across an article the other day regarding the Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical episode, "Once More with Feeling." (Hulu, Season 6, Episode 7) I talked my daughter and wife into watching it with me. I liked it when it first came out but on rewatch, with another 20 some years of exposure to the genre, I was actually left quite impressed at how well done it was.

- First-time musical written by Joss Weedon (songs and story)
- Cast all sings their own parts, and only a couple of them have any musical background
- Episode is not a throwaway filler... it's integral to the story arc
- Songs all progress the story in showing what characters are thinking/feeling and often exposing those secrets to the group

I find myself listening to the songs again over youtube and playing in my head since then... the mark of a great musical, more than just a good episode. I'd recommend watching the one-off even if you have never seen the series, which is fully of clever banter that is a joy to listen to. If brand new to Buffy, the show does a decent job of trying to be self-contained, but can't hurt to have a few bullet points of past history/plot you might be missing.

1) At the end of the previous season, Buffy sacrificed herself to save the world. Thinking she had launched herself into a hell dimension, her friends used a spell to pull her back. She was not in hell, the opposite in fact, and she hasn't been herself since but won't tell them as it would just lay a heavy guilt trip on her friends. She hasn't been the same since she came back.

2) Willow has a magic addiction and her girlfriend is concerned. They argued. Willow cast a forgetfullness spell on her.

3) Anya (former vengeance demon) and Xander are getting married. Both are having reservations and harboring fears about whether this is a good idea.

4) Anya has a longstanding fear and loathing of bunnies

5) Giles, the watcher/mentor/father figure for Buffy, believes that she's using him as a crutch and his very presence is causing her to not develop and be able to stand on her own.

6) Spike, the vampire, has a love/hate relationship going on with Buffy. He started as a villain, but has been around and helpful for years. Soulless, but still struggling to be worthy of Buffy. Hates the torment.

7) Dawn, Buffy's little sister, is feeling neglected and has been stealing things in a cry for attention.

[SWEET]
What a lot of fun
You guys have been real swell
And there's not a one
Who can say this ended well

All those secrets
You've been concealing
Say you're happy now
Once more with feeling
Now I gotta run
See you all in hell!

Attack on Titan S4. Thought it was a bit unnecessary but it ended up not just being over the top, they almost jumped the shark, but engrossing still.

House of the Dragon (season 2) - Better than season 1 that had all those time skips and a bigger dragon fight.

Next week, the wrapup to Evil. It's suprisingly enjoyable and give it a recommend.

On an international flight a couiple of days ago, binged a few episodes of Elsbeth. Again, surprisingly entertaining. Sort of a wacky Columbo.

Elsbeth developed by Robert and Michell King from Evil. The actress is married to Michael Emerson (Leland Townsend.) Apparently the character is a spinoff from another couple of shows? Never saw those.

And then, at the end of The Good Fight, during the pandemic, Robert and Michelle King told me that they were watching a lot of reruns of Columbo, which they loved. That was when they came up with this idea of, “Oh, what if we did a Columbo-type show, but with Elsbeth?” I think that’s when it started in earnest, and they came up with this idea to approach me with. Simultaneously, or right after that, there was an article written in the New York Times about this reporter who was watching reruns of Columbo and the last line of the article was, “We don’t need a reboot of Columbo, just give Elsbeth Tascioni her own show.” So, it was in the air. Luckily, CBS agreed, and Robert and Michelle wrote a great pilot. Robert directed it, CBS went for it, and then the strike happened. The fact that we’re now shooting is nothing short of a miracle. Every day, I’m extremely grateful and humbled.

Any idea about the 4 bonus episodes they're talking about here? We watch on paramount+. Wonder if they'll be just streamable?

We know that there are four bonus episodes before the series is over. While that’s better than having things abruptly end, personally I’d prefer to have more full seasons of the series. How do you feel about the way the four episodes wrap things up for your characters? Do you feel like they have more of a sense of closure than you would have had if you just left things at the end of Season 4?

HERBERS: I think so. We do have some sense of closure while at the same time leaving an opening for, potentially, another streamer that might want to continue our show. They’re very good and very exciting episodes.

Ahh.. found it

In February, Paramount+ announced that Evil would end with Season 4, but ordered four additional episodes that will be added to the season (for a total of 14 episodes). The Kings, however, suggest that they’re approaching the bonus episodes as an abbreviated Season 5.

“At this point, we’re just focused on making that last fifth season as satisfying to the audience and to ourselves — and the actors — as we can,” fellow co-creator/co-showrunner Michelle King says.

So basically, no more to find. Fear of the Unholy was 13, and the final will be 14.

Watched the final season of The Umbrella Academy. Didn't realise it was a short one so the ending was unexpected for me. Seems to be a lot of hate for the finale but it wasn't 'show ruining' for me like GOT. I'm starting over because the show was decent. I especially like the momentary glimpses of the whole group kicking absolute ass, like the beginning of season 2, right before the world ends.

His Dark Materials (final season, Max) - Heh, left the controversial stuff to the last season. I thought it was fine though it has been more than 2 years since I saw the last season (just took a while for Max to accrue enough content for another sub).

Re-watching Castle, with the wife. An episode per evening is a relax-time together.
Four months later, we're nearing the end of the series. Gonna watch Only Murders in the Building season 4 after that.
