Vizio proximity sensor prob

Except for the stupid proximity sensor pop-up, and the relatively minor issue of the IR remote having a narrow angle of functionality, my Vizio has met expectations. Of course, between their customer service, and their failure to provide any sort of resolution for the sensitive capacitor issue, it's unlikely I'll purchase another Vizio set.

But I've no gripes about the audio/video quality.

The picture quality was good and the set itself physically looked good but I expect more than 6 days of use for $500.

Not giving them my money again.

We had to have one of our Vizio sets repaired as well. Service was good, but that's more due to the fact that we purchased ours at Costco, so they coordinated the service.

I got mine at Sam's Club which is like the redneck version of Costco and they didn't even want to let me return it for a refund, even though it hadn't been 30 days since I bought it.

Bad experience all around.

I got rid of my new Vizio pretty quick too, pic problems within a week of owning it. Won't do that again.

Yeah, even though Costco reduced their return timeframe on computers / electronics down to 90 days from basically unlimited, they still extend the warranty to two years and include free tech support through their concierge services. Nice to have the additional protections, but that's a different topic than Vizio quality etc.

For my own sets, been reasonably satisfied. Sure there are better sets out there, but (at least at the time) none hit the same bang/buck equation. Our bedroom set had an annoying "squeal" type noise they diagnosed as an issue w/ the motherboard - replacing it reduced but didn't eliminate the issue, but it was reduced enough that I didn't pursue it further. Main set has been fine. Again, these are the only LCD screens I've owned (other than much smaller computer screens), so hard to offer comparisons with other mfg offerings.

What do you guys expect for a television that's typically considerably cheaper than its competition? You get what you pay for.

I said typically. Go on Amazon and most 60" Vizios are quite a bit cheaper than the 60" Samsungs.

Big screens are where you see the biggest price difference.

Smart-TVs 40" and below had consistent prices regardless of manufacturer when I looked. The reviews were good but I should have known better than to trust people who by their electronics at Wal-Mart.

Ah I see, yeah I'm unfamiliar with that range of televisions

I didn't know people still bought 40" or less TV's. ;)
