I am trying to get my VIVO working to convert some Hi-8 tapes for a friend. My PC is a few years old, custom-built Athlon 3000, with a PowerColor X800 GTO. I have been unable to get the video-in working.
The video-out does work. I connected a TV to the composite out and it works fine. My video signal is good - I have hooked the camera up to a TV and the output is fine on both s-video and composite. However, neither one will work for the video-in.
I tried downloading the newest drivers, and they wouldn't work at all. Starting up Windows Movie Maker and going to capture video caused a system reboot. So I reinstalled the old drivers off the CD. Now I can use WMM (or other software) to capture video, but nothing is coming in. It's just a black screen.
I have tried both s-video and composite with the same results. If nothing is plugged in at all, the preview window is completely black. If I plug in my source, I get a few flickering lines of static at the top of the window, but that's it. If I attempt to capture, when I stop it tells me no frames were captured.
I have searched and read through several threads on this site and elsewhere without finding any solutions other than trying different driver versions.
Device Manager says:
-ATI WDM Rage Theater Video is using driver 6.14.10.6246
-ATI WDM Specialized MVD Codec (whatever that is) is on the same driver version
I have no ? or anything else unusual in my System/Device Manager.
Though I have had this system and card for a couple of years (maybe 2.5?), I have never used the VIVO functionality. My own video camera has a DV out which connects to my firewire, but my friend has a huge stack of these Hi-8 tapes and his camera's only output is composite video.
Hopefully you can see I have put forth the effort to get this figured out, but without success. Any assistance would be very much appreciated.
