I came here to ask about a plugin that could be used with almost any application. I only found one post ona similar subject and it did not sound very positive. Is it possible to have a plugin that emulates key presses/combinations and recognizes which application you are in? I believe girder does something like this but it seems silly to have to run 2 programs just to get the remote to work. Almost all of the programs worth their HDD real estate allow keyboard shortcuts to some extent so a plugin that allowed custom configs based off of which app was in view (no matter what app it is) would be very welcome. Sure wish ATI would have added something like this natively or at the very least allowed full config of the buttons without programming instead of just the letter buttons.

Have you tried the remain wonder plugin at http://membres.lycos.fr/remotew/ . It adds some of the functions you described. Hope that helps.
