Mr Mean said:Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow is a very shadow intensive game. Here is the screenshots. This is the one with the shadow bug fixed for the ATI cards.

Don't worry Kyle at HOCP is doing a huge Doom3 write up with all the cards this week that will include a large IQ section. That is probably the best way to see Ultra Shadow in action and compare the cards.
I thought UltraShadow was exclusive to OpenGL games...?Mr Mean said:Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow is a very shadow intensive game. Here is the screenshots. This is the one with the shadow bug fixed for the ATI cards.

I am not so sure about the DirectX part... I read some stuff on nVidia's developer site some months ago about it being an OpenGL extension that has to be specifically coded for. So unless you found something that has changed that, I really doubt support exists for DirectX. This also means that the "shadow" advantage ppl claim nVidia has over ATI is practically non-existent, simply because apart from Doom3, I am unaware of any other developer that uses that feature (if there are any, please someone inform me )Mr Mean said:Anybody can use ultra shadow when coded for let it be OpenGL or DirectX. It's just a special feature that's not supported by DirectX and Nvidia decided to go with Carmacks specs. It can be used if the programmer so wishes to use it ( Like an extra feature ). Games like Splinter Cell will benefit from it etc. Any game with lots of shadows, well that's what I have read that is. I haven't seen it in action nor do I own a Nvidia 6xxx series to even test this. So I'm just going by whatever I have read about the technology. I think Doom III is the only one that is taking advantage of Ultra Shadow technology. So it's pretty limited at the moment :P
