3ds max '15. Going to start unwrapping today for textures. I'm in school for this btw, but most of it I do at home with the student version of the software. Holy **** is it complicated too.

Nice. I could never do anything artsy like that as I don't have the eye or skill to make it look correct. Do post the textured version whenever you get around to it though.

Great job! I have ZERO artistic ability, so no amount of school would help me with doing this kind of stuff.

Thanks dudes and yeah had intro to materials today, will probably finish texturing it in another 2 weeks and I'll be sure to post the result.

Looks great. How many actual hours are into making the tank at that stage?

You should make some planes for FSX and sell them.

Not sure about hours but 2 weeks total, 5 hours in school, then from 8pm to 4am :bleh: at home (this course would kill all social life if I had it to begin with ). It would no doubt take me a bit less time to model it a second time though now that I'm more comfortable with the interface and the tools. I'm thinking of modeling a really nice sports car over the holiday break and then have the T-90 crush it :D

I'm doing the mechanical CAD program at my local community college, getting an AAS in it. I don't work in 3DSMax, but I definitely do a lot of 3D. Of course, what I do has a high level of accuracy, low level of artistry.

neighbor class is cad, some fine looking dames in there. saucage fest in my class

If modeling is like using hand lotion, then unwrapping and texturing is like using sand paper.

Not satisfied with how this came out. Took too long unwrapping certain objects and then through the process discovered that I could have faked a lot of the more complex geometry through textures so at least I know not to cause myself a headache next time, I also blame holiday procrastination. This project had a deadline though so this is the textured version though I might revisit it later once we go over lighting. Forgot to turn off reflections on some surfaces so it might look weird, like super reflective sides and the red on the headlight (too lazy to re-render the video :bleh:)

Looks good. How's modeling on the 21:9 monitor? Do you feel you are more productive?

I'd blame Elite Dangerous :p

Edit: awesome job btw :) I got an old 3ds max book that my gf gave me... took a glance at it and was a bit confusing for noob :bleh:

That game was made by the devil himself!

I wouldn't say that much more compared to a 16:9 display, the difference between the two for max is minimal at best. The productivity dramatically increases only with a second monitor. Either I run Max on 21:9 and the second screen is for a quick look at references or I stretch max across the two displays and arrange the viewports to my liking ie have the front, left and top orthographic wire views on one side and a big viewport from perpective view on the other. At my school we only get one display per machine and you find yourself alt-tabbing between windows every minute.
