Truck Shortage

Glad i got my car now.

I wonder if i should have gotten more for my trade-in.....it was already a bit higher than i was expecting to get offered)

Then again i didnt know about the inlfated used market at the time.

Things like vehicles are necessities. I think it can get worse while going for another couple years. This stuff is crazy. Add in the insane inflation we're set to get hit with in the next two years, and we're looking at a really ****ed up market.

Somehow, it almost makes sense to buy new

Made sense for me -- drove my old truck for free for three 3 years, climb into new one with no kms and a warranty.

My wife wants me to look into a 7 year old 1500 Express with 93,000 miles on it. $24,430.

Looks nice, but basic options and dang man, that mileage....I might drive it and talk to the dealer, see if cash talks and how loudly.

I wonder if "happy wife happy life" applies here :bleh:

That's a lot of $ for that many miles but in this economy......

What I'm concerned about is that, if prices continue to rise I might not be willing to even talk about that Express I mentioned. :(

I keep getting the urge to just go write the check. Suck it up, get the truck and don''t look back, because I might not be able to later.

Sigh.... :(

Serious thinking about trading in my Accord hybrid for a Ford Maverick hybrid.
30k loaded and 40MPG city. Not a real work truck but should be ok for a suburban home owner.

It's not just trucks, used cars in general are some kind of surreal bubble. Sucks if you're buying, great if you're selling.

I was able to get a good trade on my Mustang GT for my wife's Mazda CX-5, yet now in the market for my next performance sedan and damn prices are crazy for used regardless of make/model.

Gonna have to wait a year for used or wait to buy new with some rebates/incentives.

I'll be out of a vehicle if I wait a year. I mean, it's not a crisis. I have a company provided work truck so we won't technically be a one car family. We just use the pickup frequently, so it will definitely take some getting used to.

Besides, if enough people buy at these prices I'm not confident dealers will lower prices that much if/when the shortage comes to an end.

edit: People trying to figure out how to keep a roof over their heads and eat at the same time and here I am sweating a 2nd/3rd vehicle lol.

must be another only-america thing, car market over here is stable as always. I do see a lot of trucks and wanna be suvs on the streets, a lot of them lowered which makes it even more cringeworthy to look at.

The only change i can see here is that almost no one buys cars lately, talked to a dealer and he basically told me that around 75% customers lease cars or "buy" on credit, no real cash involved.

It could very well be an America only thing. It's disgusting whether it is or not. I still can't believe some of the prices I'm seeing for what's being sold.

Please don't refer to my country as America.
