can anyone explain how exactly to apply artic silver to a TBIRD CPU? do i put it on just the core? how think should the layer be? thanks
 
You want it spread so it completely covers the core, and it needs to be a very thin, even layer. Make sure the heat sink you are using makes good contact with the chip.
 
can't stress enough, needs to be very thin, not thicker than two peices of paper.
