Pro's
- 144hz
- 32:9 makes for an amazingly enveloping experience
- When 32:9 isn't supported I still get a 27" 16:9 centred image.
- Resolution of 3840x1080 allows this behemoth to be more easily driven.
- High static contrast ratio, RTing measured a little over 3700:1.
- I can use/display 2 inputs at once to get 2 x 27" displays. Making work from home really kinda nice.
Con's
- HDR support: It's ok but not amazing with only 8 dimmable zones(4 zones from each side). The high static contrast really helps make this work at all. Luckily the colours look pretty great and it gets brighter when needed.
- No HDMi 2.1
- 60Hz has high input lag.
- Not great for video. Although wider content looks pretty great, 16:9 content feels like I'm not really using the screen to it's fullest.
- Not everything supports 32:9.
(that really hasn't been much of an issue for me. Almost everything I play does or can be easily tweaked/modded to.)
I've been absolutely loving it and will have a hard time ever going back from this aspect ratio. Especially when used in combo with PowerToy's Fancy Zones so I can snap windows around is more useful ways when not gaming. Feels so much cooler than dual monitors
The Alienware is close. They just need to climb that Hz ladder and get a little brighter.
