Yes another one with it's own quirks. Want 5900x, can't get it. Going 5950x because well **** it I'm tired of waiting crap out and I'm really not liking what things are looking like on the horizon.

- AMD Ryzen 5950X
- Asus TUF Gaming X570-Plus
- 16Gb or 32gb of G.Skill Trident Z NEO (F4-3600C16D-16GTZNC)

The cooler is the biggest thing I'm stuck on. Has to be air and I want to go as quiet as possible without getting OP on price as I'm not OCing this guy yet. No point in OCing it as it's being paired with my current 6600XT for now. Maybe a NH-D15S?

Everything else is being carried over from my current rig.

I would suggest looking for the new crop of X570 boards that are released in 2021.With the config above you have money to burn so the cooler is easy choice imo..

With these high temperature CPUs I would go water.
Also get 32 gigs.
There were a bunch of gays on Hard selling 5900X for 450 a pop.
This gay wants 650 for his 5950X proc. I got him down to 625. He also has a Dark Hero VIII w/ a combo deal. You can also bring him down by buying one of his 360 mm AIO coolers which he is selling at very decent prices. Would save about 150-200 bones on the deals with him which you can put in shipping.
This gay has a 5800X BNIB for 395.

You can always find a 5900X if you look hard enough as well.

Also why not wait for new Intel crap coming out end of the year?

I’ve never had a bad experience with any Noctua I’ve owned. Just make sure your case will fit the beast.

Water isn't going to be an option in my Raven. I'd be limited to a 120mm AIO. Which isn't going to stand up very well vs a similarly priced Noctua or higher performance air coolers. I'll just have to spend on the cooler and that black D15 looks . Should fit in my case, it's spec'ed up to 169mm in height and the D15 is 165mm with fans.

Plus KAC is right. I should drop the 5950X idea, save a buck and go 5800X (or 5900x). The performance difference in gaming, even with the best GPU's WAY beyond my current, show no/almost no difference anyway.

Plus I've played the more cores game multiple times before and it's never really played out. I really shouldn't expect it to play out again. Plus I can always buy a used 5900X or 5950x in the future as an upgrade path.

*edit* Also that D15S in black is only $120 bux... that's more affordable than I expected.

D15S

Have it in my daughter's system. Love it. Before the Arctic II 420, my last five coolers were Noctua brand. The quality is consistent and customer support is near the top.

But, it's a chonker. I had trouble reaching the retention clip for the GPU. And make sure your case has room from the CPU to the side panel. She's tall, too.

That's bad when your hands are as small as yours.

so what is your need and what is your timeline because alder lake and vcache ryzen are 2-3 months out at this point.

I'm worried the supply and price will be an issue with the next stuff(both Intel and AMD). Which is why I'm considering just jumping now.

Use case? All gaming, maybe streaming at some point.

.... don't forget to invest in a fancy sound hardware
