So the original creator of Android has come out with his new device. It's called Essential (lol) but man it look awesome. The design and the specs are right up there with every flagship handset.

It also looks to think outside the box with its design a thanks to a more durable body design while still looking sexy as hell. No talk of waterproofing though.

I went ahead and reserved one. :o

Looks pretty cool. Looks to take some cues from the other phone manufacturers for its design though. $699 price is right up there with the big boys so lets see how it does. It may be a little too late though with the Note 8 and the iPhone 8(or whatever they are going to call the new design) right around the corner.

Looks stunning indeed. Specs are great too. Really like the clean look of it. Make sure to keep us informed once you get your hands on a real one

those three dots are for accessories that get treated like they are not accessories, like internal devices.

also, he is releasing a gadget called Home, which is a hub for IoT that will tie into the phone, and your toaster nicely

here he is talking to wired:
https://www.wired.com/2017/05/essential-andy-rubin/

" Over dinner and wine, he and his wife, Rie, discussed his next move. “How do I top Android?” Rubin asked. “What could I possibly do that would be bigger than that?” “Don’t do one thing,” Rie replied. “Do 10.” And so Rubin launched Playground, a venture capital firm where a few dozen engineers and designers at Playground Studios help startups build stuff."

Everyone likes the idea of modular design... Until it comes time to buy the phone, and having to carry the modules with you becomes a pain, and losing a module is a real concern. Modular smartphones are silly, IMO.

Well, you think wireless charging is silly, sooooo :bleh2:

Been seeing reviews on this... I think this is one of the only Android phones that would tempt me back. Looks really good, despite the modular bits :p
