Driving the news: The company will make at least 7,500 chargers nationwide available by the end of next year, per a White House summary.
  • At least 3,500 new and existing open-access chargers will be on highway corridors to "expand freedom of travel for all EVs."
  • Others will be at spots like "hotels and restaurants in urban and rural locations."

"After intense lobbying from the Biden administration, which is pushing to build a national network of 500,000 EV chargers across the country, Tesla will make 7,500 chargers available for all electric vehicles by the end of 2024."

Well since you own a Rivian this might be good info. The charging port being on a different side than like all Teslas (which I didn't know) could pose some parking spot contention. Not to mention the F-150 Lightning is so gigantic that the cable barely reaches its port. I mean sure Tesla can make the cables longer but that could take a while (while them not having much incentive to do so). Good news for you since you probably already have a Tesla account, you won't have to go through that sign up process. Also I didn't know Teslas will pre-heat the battery for cold weather charging.

This will surely eliminate some of the garbage infrastructure problems that the non-Tesla networks are suffering from.

Yep, I reinstalled the app about a week ago. Not that it matters at the moment. The only Superchargers ready right now are in New York and California, at least per the map/charger search within the app.

I am sure other EV's do this as well. The Rivian will do this if you have a charger set as your destination, but there isn't an option to do it manually.

Went ahead and ordered a Tesla Model 3 Performance with delivery this Tuesday. Really needed a new car even though I work from home and barely drive, nice not having to depend on the wife's car anymore. Was going to get the more expensive Model S but it didn't make financial sense for the miles I'd be putting on it. At the same time didn't want the short range or slower long range version. Test drove both the LR with AB and Model3 Performance, P wins hands down. Just enough pep to satiate my need for speed and this car is essentially a stop gap to the car I really want which won't be out till next year, the Charger Hellcat or E-cat or whatever name they're going to settle for the electric version.
