Stickers in windows 8

Is it possible to set up desktop stickers in windows 8 like in 7 that you can modify directly on the desktop.

i found sticky notes 8 in the app store, however, i can only place stickers in the tile screen and it feels wonky when in 7 i could have them right on the desktop. especially if i am writing something that is in the desktop.
at the end of the day I could always have a wordpad document always running...
 
Isn't there a desktop Sticky Notes app that comes with Windows 8.1?
