Reported to be using "Creation Engine 2", though those experienced with Bethesda's history will know it's still gamebryo at it's core.

Sweet. I like the concept.. maybe No Man's Sky, but with more structure, and not terrible?

So Skyrim in space.

Could be good.

Hope they REALLY use their imaginations and come up with crazy stuff cause space ideas have been done to death..<cough> Star Wars, Mass Effect, Elite Dangerous, etc

Maybe not totally unexpected but still ridiculous. They shouldn't have committed to the big 11/11/22 release date a year ago if there was even a slight chance they couldn't make it. Even Todd said the date was in ink. Just more lies... Now we're looking at up to a 7 month delay, maybe more if they slip again. We're still 6 months out from the original date too. Potentially having to wait a year from now to see it release is nuts.

I'm a firm believer that all this work from home **** over the past couple years has destroyed game studio synergy. All the drive and hustle just goes out the door.

I'll wait until June 2024 to play. I figure it should take that long to patch it to a playable state even after more delays and a 100+Gb day 1 patch.

As a software project manager, I despise it when Marketing execs set completely unrealistic release dates and make them public. 99.9% of the time, they do that over the objections of the people doing the actual work, who know it either will miss that date or will make the date but be unplayably buggy.

Execs: When can you release?
Dev/QA: When it's done and tested
Execs: Ok, so in 3 months then?
Dev/QA: No way in hell.
Execs: Ok, 3 months it is. I'll tell the press. Good talk.

Not surprised. There has been 0 media, adverts etc for it. By this time , if the game was ready, we would been flooded with adverts and stuff.

Yeah sad but not really a surprise. Odd that they were pushing the date just recently though.

Isn't pretty much all of R3D at least in their 30s, meaning we've all seen dozens or more of big games get announced with confirmed release dates, only for them to be inevitably delayed? There's some irony in being upset or surprised over a game getting delayed, in the same week that Duke Nukem Forever's 2001 build is being "released" twenty years late.

In my world, game release dates are announced a month or so in advance. Everything earlier than that, is a target or placeholder date. :bleh:

With all the stuff that has been going on over the past few years I'm not upset by the delay at all.
