Sound Bars and wireless speakers

What are you guys using these days? Im starting to look at getting some new stuff for my living room and I really dont want wires running all over the place.

Sonos seems to be the leader right now but what else is out there? There 5.1 setup with Beam cause 1400 bucks are other competitors that are better for the price?
 
If you are really, truly stuck on soundbars at LG, Yamaha, or def tech with atmos would be the only way I would even remotely consider. And I wouldn't spend less than $500.

I'd advise against it 100% otherwise, theres just so many better ways to get many times higher performance.

There are ways to hide speaker wires you know :bleh:

You can also go Boutique if you really care about sound. Like Paradigm, SVS, PSB, Mirage, etc which will set you back probably 2-5k, but it will be a very, very good soundbar system that would beat most entry level 5.1s.

I'm using a basic Vizio 2.1 bar with wireless subwoofer. It's fine for my needs (I'm no audiophile), but I wish there was an HDMI input for the audio. I have to use optical, and sometimes audio & video are slightly out of sync on Netflix. I've tried adjusting it in the TV settings and it's a little better, but still noticeable.

Wires are hard to hide for certain rooms. Im looking to spend no more than 1400-1500 bucks for everything.

I am no audiophile but I want the room to be lit up with decent sound. Looked at the LG and Yamaha website and theyhave sound bars with subs but no fulll 5.1 systems. Sonos has a few sets (bar, sub, back L+R channels).

Correct, they use Atmos speakers to fire upwards and fill the room. They are actually quite decent, and better than Sonos. Sonos is good, but it's the same mentallity as Bose. So is HEOS. Granted it's better than bose (bars not very high) but it's the same grasp.

Or if you want to save you can go with the inmaous bic F12, but either of these will put that thing down easily.

Paradigm is a very, very well known company they are considered an elite on AVSforum. They make some of the best (albeit most expensive) speakers out there.

Wireless you still will have wires to outlets, and what not even on rear speakers. If your going with a soundbar, I'd just go with a front firing soundfield like the one I just linked.

The paradigm looks interesting. If want the higher end model for the airplay support though. I wonder if I can hear them anywhere.

If you can find someone on avsforum people tend to let you display at their home if you can find someone local. Otherwise your going to have to find a local distro but there aren't many.
 
Still looking. One feature I really would like to have is Apple Homekit support. Sonos seems to be one of the top. I might opt for the sonos one speakers, with wireless sub and beam bar(for its newer features). Its pretty pricey at 1300 hundred though.
 
I have a Sonos system, but I don't use it for HTS. Just normal room music (several Play:3's scattered around the house, and a Play:5 matched with a Sub in one room). That being said, their sub and Play:5 speakers are really good. The sub has quite a bit a bass to it, but not enough that it rattles everything around you. If you want to "feel" bass, that's not the speaker but it's still sounds good.

My only complaint with Sonos is their Android software. It was really good up until last summer. The quality when down quickly. It was so bad, for about 3 months, I couldn't even use my system. It's gotten better over the last few updates to make it usable again. For HTS, you wouldn't really have those issues.

Would you purchase a sonos HTS?
 
I'm not a fan of wireless for HTS, so no. That doesn't mean Sonos isn't good for HTS, I'm just not a fan of wireless (yet) for HTS. My HTS is wired.
 
I went for the Sonos 5.1 set. Beam + Ones + Sub in white. I really wanted home kit/Airplay 2 integration and something that looks real nice in the new house and the wife loves the way they look. They should probably get here this weekend but I wont get a chance to use them til maybe midweek after I paint the wall and mount the TV. Will report back later.

Got the wall painted, TV mounted, and the speakers set up. Everything else in the living room is missing and the TV looks small even though it's a 65 inch.

Going to put the speakers through The paces but preliminary listening sounds pretty good.

I have an older Vizio soundbar that does well for my standards (also a non audiophile, but still enjoy good sound).

One thing you might want to factor in is whether your remotes will behave together. From the wife/child factor, it helps if a universal remote will work for both TV, soundbar, and any attached consoles, players, etc.

Factor in ease of use for the non-tech people potentially using this.
