Sony RX100 III vs. smartphone cameras

Just wondering if something like a Sony RX100 III is worth it considering the current state of smartphone cameras.
 
Yes. I have a Mk 1 and still think it has better dynamic range and flexibility than modern smartphones.
 
That camera will blow the crap out of any cell phone, no questions asked. 1" sensor should cover it compared to a cell phone; but 20 Mpix, up to ISO 12800, fast performance, great lens...that's a great camera. Night and day from a cell phone.

This. I'd love to have one of those Sony's but that's outside my budget range.

Something like the iPhone 6 camera is arguable better than cameras under ~$150-$200ish, though less flexible it's a lot easier to use and get good photos rather than messing with a P&S camera.
