Sister needs a new TV

She uses it primarily to watch Netflix, wants to spend about 700 before taxes, 46 or more inches. Doesn't have to be a smart TV but if it's one with the app built in, bonus. Keep in mind that we are in Canada so those sweet ass deals you muricans get we don't. Any suggestions? Been out of the TV market a while now.

Typically most of the Samsung TV's have apps available within them (like Netflix, Vudu, YouTube, Hulu, etc).

Agreed...

Get a TV with wireless if she has a wireless router.

Samsung is a good choice, had mine since 2010 and it is still as crisp
as new.

I would strongly suggest the voice recognition remote though.
I do not have one, but a friend has and it is kick ass...

When I moved I needed a new TV for the living room and went with a 48" Sony Bravia LED with Wifi, the Netflix app and whatever other smart features it has.

Was only $500 and its been a solid display. No problems whatsoever and the picture is pretty damn good for a $500 LED.

Yeah but were talking Canada. If you could wait until BF you can get more screaming good deals. Not sure if Canada has BF sales though?

I'm not saying he'd be able to get one for that exact price up there, just saying it goes for an affordable price.

Its a budget TV with good picture and features. Think the main reason it was cheap is because its only 60Hz.

another vote for Samsung, although Sony also makes some good stuff. For around 700 bucks you can get a good 55"...... over here, of course.

OK, gotchya....

And see my edit about the 60Hz thing. FYI, these days I guess its becoming an antiquated spec but if you can still find some displays at only 60Hz they will be cheaper.

Personally I prefer 60Hz over the higher refresh rate/interpolation models. I think they look awful.

A lot of the 120/240Hz TV's are "gimmicky" Hz anyways that use motion blur.

Samsung, Sony (tend to be more expensive) and even Vizio are good.

Can get a Samsung UN50J5200AFXZC 50" 1080p for $599 from a few places like Best Buy or Canada Computers

There's a couple 50" Vizio sets that are $599/$699 (1080p/4k) D50-D1/D50u-D1

That TV is roughly $1000 here in Canukistan...plus 60" is a far cry from the 46" that was referenced

46 or more inches and, yah, I missed the canadian dollars. My apologies for your poor exchange rate. However, it is the best bang for the buck for a new TV for $700 USD.

A lot of the Vizio TVs are great value. I may be wrong but usually when someone lists a size like 46"+ they mean something somewhat comparable...like 46-52". Lots of great deals on 50" tvs as that is the most common size purchased I believe
