is there a decent case-friendly one?

Got a Tech Armor, about a month old, already just barely visible crack in it long the edge. Seems those curved edges are a real PITA to design around.

Using an Otterbox Defender (which used to come with a built-in screen cover that made it like a friggin VAULT). This new one does not, sadly. Otterbox makes a protector but it's pricey as hell and the reviews aren't that great.

I get mine from T-Mobile. I just use the extreme impact one with a Tech 21 case. I have dropped my S8 probably twice with no issues. Also the case doesn't make the screen protector lift up either.
