My RW has refused to work for several months.
After reading the other threads here about this problem, I did a registry search in windowsXP for the string \RemCtrl\.
This search brought up the rundll32.exe C:\Pregra~1\ locations. All of them got changed to
rundll32.exe "C:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia\..." whatever. Still no RW.
Continuing to search the registry I came upon two references for ATIX10.exe. Searching through the harddrive showed no instances of this file. Changing the ATIX10.exe to ATIRW.exe and voilá RW works, icon appears in task bar, all commands function and there is joy in Mudville.
This is the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ATI Technologies\Desktop\IconTA\Programs\RemCtrl
You may have to right click on this key in the left panel, select permissions, and grant administrators( or yourself if not logged in with administrator credentials ) full control before you can change the values in the right window.
