RenderMonkey v0.5Beta available for download

Hmm. . . I'm having a problem.

To be safe, I installed RenderMonkey in the Program Files directory. I then did a Windows update to make sure I had all critical updates. When I try and open one of the sample projects in RenderMonkey, I get the following error: "An Error occured while opening this workspace!"

Looks like the min system specs never got posted to the web site. You need Windows2000 (Service Pack 2) or WindowsXP to run this app. I was able to reproduce the error you described when opening a workspace under Windows98SE (which is what you have listed in your sig). Sorry for the trouble!

Ah. . . Thanks for the info. I suspected that might be the problem (one can always hope otherwise, though, eh?). Looks like I'll have to finally upgrade my OS, soon. . .

this will be some fun to try and figure out. right after i ditch this Radeon 8500 le and get a real one...

no one ever did answer my question about per pixel antialiasing...
thanks for the link man. this will be great to play with.

RenderMonkey v0.5Beta was made available for download this afternoon from ATI's Developer website:

http://www.ati.com/developer/sdk/radeonSDK/html/Tools/RenderMonkey.html

RenderMonkey is a suite of open, extensible shader development tools for both current and future hardware that allows programmers and artists to collaborate on creating realtime shader effects.

It's very slow!

Pdf is coming w/ 1,5 kB/s, exe 0,5-1,0 kB/s - it's stupid. I'm on the East Coast, on a full T1 - what the heck is this?

Dont say your pipe is full...

Has anyone managed to download the RenderMonkey documentation? :(

I tried downloading it twice, by different means. Once, by opening it in the browser (using the Adobe plug-in), and then trying to save it (I only got half way before getting an error). Second attempt, I tried right-clicking on the link and saving the target (which I was able to download completely, although very slowly). Once on my hard drive, I try opening it, and I get an error.

In both cases I get the following error message;

"There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired."

Does anyone have a good copy of this doc, which they'd be willing to share? :)

Thanks!

BTW, ATi's site is extremely slow. :(

If you can't get the pdf document, don't worry. RenderMonkey itself comes with a MS Word version of the same document.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but our IT guys are aware of the issue and hopefully it will be fixed soon.

I have WinME(i know i know) but i bought my R8500 expecting to be able use and make V/p shaders, rendermonkey seemed like a dream come true until i couldn't run any of the examples :( , Will it ever support older OS's? or will i have to spend £70 to get WinXP.

I think i remember seeing a REF mode for rendering, so perhaps you dont need the hardware, though it probably would run slow :)

YEAH the new verion .52 works on my computer!! :D

Mine, too! It doesn't seem to like it when ASUS Probe is running (or the other way around, perhaps), but neither do some other programs. :) It works, anyways. :)
