Hi

Ive just got my remote wonder and downloaded the latest drivers from the ATI website for WinXP, the following file

remote-wonder-3-01-0-0-english.exe

Towards the end of the installation I get the following error message:

Error 1904.Module C:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia\RemCtrl\ATIRW.dll failed to register. HRESULT - 2147220473. Contact your support personnel.

After clicking ok it proceeds to the do you want to restart your computer screen, after restarting the software doesnt load up correctly with this error message:

This application has failed to start because MFC71.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

I thought this may have been a bad download or something but having downloaded the file several times now, i still get the same error message.
The drivers supplied which are the 2.3.0.1 install and will load the program, but i wanted to update to the latest drivers.

Any help is much appreciated concerning the latest drivers and the best drivers I could use.

Thanks

Mark

Im having the same issue. I'm suprised this problem isnt happening with more users. When I tried installing MMC the installer would hang.

I wasn't able to get the MMC to install at all. I have a ticket open with ATI support and I have given them a link to this thread.

Same problem here. I tried installing RM 3.01 drivers on two computers. On the first one it installed without problems but couldn't recognize the remote when connected, on the second computer it gave me the Failed to Register and MFC71 errors!

On the first computer I fixed the problem by first installing version 2 of the Remote Wonder drivers, and then doing an update with the version 3 drivers.

On the second computer, I fixed the problem by downloading MFC71.DLL from http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/pop.php?mfc71 and putting the file in C:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia\RemCtrl (NOT in the Windows System folder as is suggested in the download -- this is newest Microsoft programming policy).

Either solution might have worked on both computers. But this is VERY sloppy programming by the ATI guys! Either MFC should have been statically linked in the code (this would put the DLL's code inside the applicationcode) or the MFC should have been included in the setup package!

No, I installed MMC first, then installed the drivers. THe problem is MMC installs files RW 3.01 needs. At least, that is what I thin.

I did the same thing you did on your first computer, I did a google search and found a version 2 driver and used that. This is absolutely absurd.

ATI: Pull your heads out!!! Make drivers that work. Don't force us to use your crap software (MMC, et al).
