Raised By Wolves (2020 on HBO MAX)

Hmm...not impressed with HBO's new lineup. They are going to have to do better, much better if they want me to keep subbing. I'm currently only subbing for older shows and some movies. After I'm done I plan to unsub until they release something else worth it.

Then again, it's hard to top GOT (though Westworld is decent, not on GOT level though).

Ridley Scott needs to stop working on other projects and focus on finishing up the Alien prequel trilogy that he started. Feels like he's given up on it.

edit: Nevermind - just finished the first episode. That was insane lol.

finally, some REAL scifi that's not gonna be a hand holder, at least from what I saw in the first 20min, when I had to leave for work. gon a have to watch ondemand

Watched all 3. Interesting to see where this goes. The writers seem to be very anti-religion. So if that insults you, you might want to skip this one.

So what exactly is this show about? I am reading about it and there is virtually no description.

Refugees flee to a new planet after their world ends because of a war between religious zealots and atheists. There are two camps of refugees so you can guess things aren't going smoothly. Plus, there are homicidal androids with super powers, creepy things on the new planet, annoying kids, and some conflicting backstories...

It is clear the idea of having more religion in everyday life wasn't so successful on the world that failed. So, if that message insults you, I'd avoid this one.

Good or bad insane?

Good, so far anyway. I like the premise, and disagree with SD's summation a bit. The writers are playing off of strongly held bias, but as of the end of the 3rd episode there isn't a clear indication of who the "good guys" are yet.

It's different, has some surprises and is well acted, worth the watch :)

I'm not for or against religion either way so that doesn't bother me. The annoying kids part though...:cringe:

I think the kids are essentially what the larger story will revolve around. SD is just showing his grumpy old inner man

Jking SD  :)

The kids fit perfectly within the framework actually. If you have access to max it's worth the watch.

lol....

The child actors are not the best. At times, I was rooting for the four legged beasts with claws... :p

who designed the necromancers?

there was a short blurb on it and I missed it, but I thought they said the religious group, and then the atheists, stole and reprogrammed one?

Children nearly always break tension and realism in a show or movie. Partly because of the horrid acting, and partly because of their insane plot armor. You know the child is just going to be frightened and won't ever be seriously harmed. So when you see some generic CGI monster coming after them, I just roll my eyes and think, yeah the kids not even going to get a scratch. :bleh:

The only recent exception to the kid plot armor rule was walking dead...to a certain degree anyway.

Only recent exception to this rule that I can think of was walking dead, to a certain degree anyway.

It. Story starts with kids dying/vanishing.
