Rage MAN drivers stable?

Wow, I came across the Rage LT MAN drivers while browsing the rage3d.com website. My system isn't really much for games but I still play games sometimes. But I would prefer the most stable drivers as much as posible. It sounds like Rage LT Man's drivers are the best performing, but I'd like to have some opinions on whether the drivers are as stable or ever more stable than the ATI driver releases. Thanks.

It really depends on your hardware, your experience with installing drivers, and your luck. I've heard reports ranging from "the drivers install fine, but so-and-so game doesn't work" to "the drivers work great on my system" to "the drivers won't install." My best advice is to try them out, and if they aren't as stable as you prefer, then install another driver (my personal favorite being the 5.40 WHQL).

Oh thanks, I'll try it out. What is the 5.40 WHQL driver though and where do I download it? thanks

Ops, I found the WHQL 5.40 drivers right here at the rage3d website. I'm gonna use that driver instead because most of my games are like directX 5 games.

Stable... you da man, lol. Umm, the RLTMs use dx7, but that doesnt mean that DX5 wont work. whatever's best for you though, use it.

You could try the 5.40 drivers on the ATI Special Driver website. They're a later version than the WHQL 5.40 and probably fix a few bugs though they're not MS certified. (Not that it makes any difference - they still work OK with DX7).

BRY, there's a prob with the 5.40s in the fact that the dont run d3d7 accelerated games (battlezoneII), at least i don think they do.

Well I haven't noticed any problems but that's probably because I don't have any games which actually need dx7, only dx6 and below. And the OpenGL driver is OK since I only have Quake 1 and 2 though I did notice that atio9xae works better with the Wintune test than atio9xad.
