Hello,

I have a serious problem... About Maple Story(an online game). I cannot play this game very well because my computer keeps freezing... Alot of my friends said it is becuase my graphics card. I have the RAGE 128 PRO 4X TMDS.

The section i am missing for the requirments for this game is the 3D ACCELERATION...

Does my graphics card have 3d acceleration????

If so can you try to see whats wrong?

I have this graphics card named the RAGE 128 PRO 4X TMDS - Is it any good?

Because i play this game called Maple Story and i keep freezing...Some of my friends say its because my graphics card isnt good enough..

My computer has:
cable/modem internet
Pentium 3
Windows XP pro
1133MHz
1.14GHz
256 MB of RAM

The game(maple story) needs:
p3-700Mhz or higher
128 Mb of ram
500Mb space of hard-drive needed
Windows 98/ME/2k/XP
3D acceleration card(video/graphics card)
16bit sound card
cable modem

I think im lacking the part where i need 3d accelleration, i dont think my graphics card has 3d accelleration. Or maybe its just not updated.. I never updated my graphics card, and i dono how. Please help me Admin/GM/MOd... Plz..

Well despite what the game requirements may claim, it is possible that your video card isn't powerful enough. Rage128 is getting older by the day. How old is this game Maple Story? I couldn't find much information about it on the web. and does the game allow you to adjust the resolution, maybe something low like 640x480 would resolve the speed issue. Can you switch between OpenGL and Directx, maybe one renderer would work better than the other. Finally you could try playing in 16bit color instead of 24bit or 32bit color.
 
I tryed updating the drivers but when i was nearly finsihed installing it than it says "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. THe system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Micrsoft Windows applications, 'Close' to terminate the application." So now i dono wut to do... and btw i dont think decreasing the resolution works becuase its a fullscreen game and u cant window it.. becuase their afraid ppl are gona use 3rd party programs and hex some stuff around with programs like cheat engine/ Tsearch etc...
anything else u can do to fix this?

Ok first thing, when someone says "decrease the resolution" and you've got a game which doesn't have it's own resolution controls, you simply reduce your desktop resolution before playing. The desktop disappears, the game pops up in full screen, but it's using the new decreased graphics resolution.

As far as the missing 3D acceleration and if the Rage 128 is up to the task....

Maple Story is hardly bleeding edge (I don't know any MMORPG that is) and a Rage 128 is likely more than up to the task, as the game uses a 3D graphics engine but oddly doesn't actually use 3D graphics! It will even run without using the 3D engine apparently, so the Rage 128 isn't to blame. However, the game does require DirectX 8.1 or above to be installed. You can try any graphics card driver you want from new to old, but unless you have the relevant Direct X version installed it won't work.

With regards your last post and the message you got, this is a generic message for operating systems trying to run applications made for another OS. You are using Window XP Pro, which can appear to software as WinNT thanks to it's NTFS partitions mainly (the "autoexec.nt" message is a good clue) which would make it look like a non-supported OS to the game. Sorry.
